Admittedly it was busy when we got in, we sat down with no issue as there were tables free, and proceeded to order a coffee and food. The person I was with ordered a few minutes after me as he has an allergy and was taking time to decide. There was one person infront in queue who was sat on the next table over.
The coffees came just a few minutes after ordering for us individually as we had ordered separately a few minutes apart.
15 minutes go by and the table who had ordered ahead of me get their food so I assumed mine would be next and my friends would be after, especially given the allergy. We wait another 15 minutes or so and food is being served to people who ordered after us and his food appears after them too. Another 5 minutes go by and I finally recieve my food, which considering I ordered 3-5 minutes before him was slightly annoying. The food itself was alright but not worth the 35ish minutes wait or the price point.
We assume his food came first due to the fact he did have an allergy and do appreciate that that was looked after but both our orders were relatively simple and neither of us were overly happy waiting that long for food.
The staff were lovely and helpful with his allergy, and again, fast coffee.
I do understand that things may have been slower than normal due to it being relatively busy and his allergy but it felt a little long.
I would come back for coffees but maybe not food. I also did not try their pastries but they...
Read moreI visited Fig + Sparrow based on the numerous 5* reviews on Google. I came on a Friday at 1pm, and it wasn’t too busy. Perhaps 50% of the place was full. There is a good amount of seating available, and when I arrived, there was a small but delicious-looking selection of pastries and bakes on the counter. There is always a wide variety of drinks available on the menu, and a bar at the back which serves savoury food.
I asked the lady if the counter items were baked fresh and if they were vegetarian (halal in my case), and she said they were baked fresh, and suitable for vegetarians and halal foodies! The staff were very inviting. The lady explained what each item was, and she even gave me her personal recommendation. 10/10 for such caring staff :)
I ordered a Cinnamon Bun and Latte to eat in. Those buns looked too good to overlook. Also, exceptional presentation of all the bakery items.
The Cinnamon Bun was delicious! It was sticky, not too sweet, and full of cinnamon and brown sugar flavour. The Latte was also yummy, and had a lovely pattern on top.
Overall, I am very happy I visited Fig + Sparrow, and I will definitely bring my friends next time. This place is too good not to share with others! I would highly recommended this place to those who like coffee shops, and just want to sit...
Read moreI am making my first Google review expressly to write this review. It was really that shocking.
The food was fine, bordering on good. But the service from one staff member was so offensive as to actually give us a few laughs. The bathroom is absolutely foul, I think evidenced by that they haven't fixed the toilet for three weeks. Oscar Wilde couldn’t describe the stench. I can overlook the structural issues if not for the fact that the waitress practically caused an earthquake slamming down a pot of cutlery (she seemed irate by the very fact that we had asked for cutlery to begin with). It was the most passive aggressive service l've ever experienced, including in Paris.
For management: I can describe her in more detail but suffice to say she has a vaguely American international school accent and worked the till on 05/11.
Also, if you wait in the queue and get a table inside, there is no table service, so you will have to rejoin the queue of other people trying to find a table and being turned away before actually being able to order anything. I've never experienced such a system before. Mediocre, passive aggressive, but absolutely hilarious.
10/10 for the inside jokes for those involved (or inflicted) with...
