Updated edit: Amazing place, the only thing that let it slightly down was how loud it was because it was so busy/amount of tables. I don't dislike noise but it was quite hard to hear the lovely service lady tell us menu changes and my mom had to take her hearing aids out. The food was amazing, I can say I've had maybe 3 steaks in my life in the quality of how this but not one butchered and cooked so so well. The choice was amazing also. I shared a 1.1kg prime rib the fat was buttery. My mom and dad shared a 600g ribeye and that was also top notch. The starters were interesting, potted beef was great, trying to figure out how to eat it was fun. The bone marrow was prob the best value for money though also bang on. Drinks had good choice but were a little pricey, it's not my usual level of place so I guess for a place like this par for the course. Now for the golden number, the overall cost as you can image regardless is above the normal. For the same money for what I paid I'd definitely have a ace time anywhere up to and below mid range for maybe 6-8 people. Would I have gotten this steak anywhere? No, prob about 5 places in Manchester I recon at best. Would I come here everyday? Yes... if I had, "money is no object" money for the things I'd be here for. Does it have cheaper days/options? Yes but hawksmore is all about doing what others don't with steaks so it kinder defeats the object however the Sunday roast offer for the price seems like a damn good thing. The place is honestly great, I'd prob try and less busy day or time than evening and I'd come for that treat celebration (otherwise I'd be pretty poor ha) but for those times for those times definitely one of the best places to have a perfect steak.
EDIT: Having eaten their Sunday roast I can say value for money and sheer quality of food at its price is unbeatable. Thoroughly enjoyed. Sides were very nice and included Cauliflower cheese and stuffing both 7£ extra each in the back of the photo. Sunday roast was 25£ which is what you can see on the plate. Same rules apply, not every Sunday unless cash flow changes but certainly worth the try once for sure. Will be...
Read moreWe dined at Hawksmoor for our 4th anniversary and we had a wonderful time, start to finish.
Our server for the afternoon was Samson, who I must say is the single best server we have ever had. He was attentive, extremely polite and knowledgeable, and truly amplified our experience - also every recommendation given by him was spot on.
We were most impressed by the fact that when we entered we naturally had a conversation with our server, explaining we are celebrating our anniversary, our names, what we are up to etc. The server did not write this information down, however he remembered everything we had said, referenced it later and brought us out a lovely treat post meal for said anniversary - this really meant a lot to us, so thank you.
The atmosphere was great, just the right amount of busy inside the restaurant. The decor is beautiful and we loved the architecture of the building.
We had the sharing platter between us with all the trimmings and two sides (cauliflower cheese, stuffing)
Starting with the platter, the steak was beautifully cooked to our liking (med rare), it was soft and buttery with a rich beef flavor. On the side we had buttered cabbage, carrots and roast potato's, all of which were cooked to perfection.
The roast potatoes are arguably the most important thing on a roast, these were golden and crispy on the outside and fluffy inside, the gravy was also very rich and had subtle flavors of rosemary and red wine which paired perfectly with our drinks.
Our sides were also spectacular, we've had friends recommend the stuffing to us for a while and it really lived up to our expectations, the marrow adds a lovely flavour and the herb mix is well balanced.
We are generally very big eaters, we got through around 80-90% of our meal, giving ourselves the opportunity to try everything - we paired our meal with two separate glasses of red wine, recommended by Samson. They paired perfectly and we thoroughly enjoyed.
Overall experience was an 11/10, would strongly recommend, thank you very...
Read moreWe thought we’d treat ourselves to a meal out, seeing as it’s Christmas, and we couldn’t have picked a better steakhouse.
We started with just sourdough and butter - this set the standard very high, and the following meal did not disappoint. The softest bread, with a nice chew to the crust, and the butter was easily spreadable. We agreed that we could have quite happily had the whole loaf!
Our steaks were cooked PERFECTLY (a judgement that doesn’t come lightly). We ordered one medium and one medium-well - both were juicy, tender and well seasoned. The options for sides were varied and tasty, and well worth their money. We ordered two non-alcoholic drinks (I can’t remember the name but they were mango, grapefruit and soda) - these were gorgeous. Light and refreshing, and not overly sweet.
For dessert, we shared the sticky toffee pudding. This was simply unctuous, and I almost wished we’d got one each - my belt was glad I kept a level head. The most minute point on this, however, it might have been nice to have the option of clotted cream or ice cream, as this was served with clotted cream, and sometimes it’s nice to have an ice cream to cut through. Having said this there was an option for a sticky toffee sundae, so maybe the choice was poor on our part?
From the moment we walked through the door, staff were kind and attentive (but not overbearing - they obviously kept an eye on things but at no point did we feel watched). They worked in harmony with one another and all appeared on the same page, making service efficient but not rushed. Special note for the fact they remembered who ordered what without having to ask us when we were served.
Our server, Keegan, deserves a mention. He was so lovely and even gave us some tips on what to see at the Christmas markets!
10/10 experience. Highly recommended. Go, treat...
