After finishing a long shift at work. I decided on eating some from my country and chosed Pull Up as I had eaten there a couple of years ago and the service and food was good. However, when recently entering the restaurant on a Thursday evening at 10pm this January. I was not made welcome and by the look on the young lady's face, I could see that something was off. I was told that it was takeaway only as they were closing soon. I mentioned that the website stated they were open until midnight and maybe this should be changed so customers were aware of the actual closing times. The young lady replied that the kitchen closing now so therefore the restaurant will be closing as well.
Unfortunately for me I chose to still order some food as I was hungry and wanted some "good food" in my belly. I ordered jerk chicken, sweet potato wedges and Plantin. When I sat in my car to eat, to my disappointment the chicken was tasteless, only the sauce gave it any jerk flavour. The sweet potato wedges were mushy and some of it looked moldy. The only thing I could eat was the fried plantin as that was freshly done. I was only in Manchester that evening due to work but I do visit on a regular basis as I have family there. I will be telling them of my experience at Pull Up and we will find somewhere else to "Pull Up" when we desire decent...
Read moreAhh what a bundle of joy this little place is! I'm a fan of The Drop Cafe in Chorlton, so had to check out this little gem too. I was there on Saturday and had curry goat for the first time! Absolutely amazing. Honestly didn't know what I was expecting when trying goat, but I was slightly apprehensive. Turns out its just like lamb with a stronger taste. But they honestly cook it so good it just falls off the bone and melts in your mouth! The portion sizes are generous, and it was served with rice and peas and I ordered the dumplings (of course! Would be rude not to!) And even tried plantain for the first time which I also liked. I love the Caribbean, the vibes, the food and this little place is something special. They have made me love it even more. By far my favourite restaurant and I don't shutup about them whenever I talk about anything food related with people 😂 lovely setting and quirky decor, staff have always been pleasant and helpful on my visits with recommendations and service. Thanks for a lovely visit and you have found yourselves a loyal customer...
Read moreI was going to take my friend to another Carribean restaurant but this place was recommended to me by the shopkeeper.. I could not believe I'd not known of this place existence!
We were warmly greeted and everything was explained thoroughly, what portion to expect, spice levels, flavours . They offer lunch time deals and food included plantain, dumplings, various curries and stews.
I almost chose a hake dish but my weakness is goat curry so I tried that with a splash of yogurt and pomegranate. My friend had the peppered steak. We also shared some dumplings, rice and peas and haloumi. My companion is not a fan of this cheese but she tried some after I couldn't stopped raving about it. There was no squeaky rubber texture and the flavours were bang on. She ended up loving it.
Everything was made fresh was of perfect spice blend and consistency. We shared a rum cocktail for £18 this was also superb in flavour.
I am definitely coming back here, I would advise you walk that little bit further from Turtle Bay to have a much more tastier and...
