My friend and I went to Rustik this afternoon for brunch in the sun. We were waited on by a dark haired woman who is presumably the manager of the place (unless she simply carries herself with an air of superiority). As a regular customer, I knew her to be very rude and unpleasant. She really outdid herself on this particular occasion.
She looked her usual disgruntled self when she took our order at the bar. Our plates came ten minutes apart from each other. When my friend’s food was finally brought to our table (after being sent out on a trip to the wrong one), she soon realised that her eggs had been overcooked.
My friend very kindly asked for the manager’s help and remarked that her eggs had been hard boiled instead of poached, making the meal dry and difficult to enjoy.
The manager looked as if she had just been slapped. Instead of taking the plate back to the kitchen, she made the odd suggestion to bring my friend a pair of fresh eggs.
20min and no fresh eggs later, the rest of the food had grown cold, and the waitress came back to explain that the “pan” was “taking a long time to heat up” (a real shame when your main business is brunch). She added coldly that she’d be offering my friend partial refund for the meal instead of new eggs.
Another 20min had passed when she came back and slapped a few coins into the palm of my friend. We both looked in disbelief at the little heap of 5ps and 10ps, amounting to a total of £2. When the manager noticed our shock, she remarked aggressively that £2 were the price of the eggs.
My friend patiently explained that she didn’t feel it was fair compensation given that the absence of eggs in her egg-based meal had ruined the full experience of brunch.
Reluctant to accept that well cooked eggs were integral to a meal called “Rustik eggs”, the manager looked enraged. Without any apology, she went back in to get some more money. We chose to leave before she had the opportunity to condescendingly slap some more silver into my friend’s hand…
Needless to say we won’t be coming back for food. Two faithful customers lost.
On a positive note, the...
Read moreI didn't enjoy the pub quiz here on Wednesday. It started late. They don't take bookings. After four rounds We had to swap our answer sheets with other teams to mark each other and then give them back to each other before handing them in, which meant we had to correct mistakes the other team had made (e.g. giving us 1 point for a bonus question rather than 3, or adding up the points incorrectly). There's room for cheating this way too. I much prefer pub quizzes where they have someone next to the host who marks them each round. Usually they would put a short drinks break between rounds to give them time to mark. The host also went too quickly through the music round, not making it clear what number we were up to at times, and leaving very little time to think and then write an answer down so we were having to write and then also listen to the next song clip at the same time. He then went really slowly through other rounds. He also would give clues seemingly at random - some of which made the answer really obvious which takes the fun out of it a bit. He also randomly gave extra questions to the table next to him at one point and we were listening thinking it was part of the quiz for a second but it wasn't. It all just felt a bit haphazard compared to previous quizzes I have been to. One of the small plates we got was grilled halloumi which was £4.95 for one piece of halloumi and some sauce which felt a bit overpriced, especially since the other small plates were much more substantial. On the positive side the cocktails were all delicious, nicely presented and good value and the waitress was...
Read moreI saw a video online reviewing Rustik and I thought i’d stop off for brunch after just getting off a long flight with my pregnant sister in law excited to eat some food from home. (I live abroad)
I waited over 20-30 mins to be served (The gentleman was working by himself, I was patient)
I wanted steak and eggs but they just ran out.
The food we ordered took another 40mins to arrive and honestly it was so disappointing . The only thing that was worth eating on my plate of Shakshuka was the sour-bread toast it came with.
The Vegan breakfast wasn’t enjoyed by my SIL however It was the Sausages she had that really ruined it for her. She left her food after a few bites.
I ordered vegan sausages as an extra too and unfortunately I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone either. They were absolutely horrible.
Matcha Tea latte tasted chalky. The mango smoothie was okay, very overpowering on the cinnamon but overall the best drink.
I wish you guys would use good coffee because whatever was served wasn’t great.
So after a few bites of the food and a few sips of the drinks. We paid the bill and left.
I did tell the gentleman serving us, he just apologised that we didn’t enjoy our food. Clearly saw us leave everything but didn’t ask what the issue was. I’m just no...
