Unfortunately not the best experience after eating here today. I made a reservation advising that we would have a dog with us (party of 6) so requested a table outside. I was in the pub on Friday & asked a bar staff member if this was okay & they confirmed that dogs were allowed inside & outside, sensing that the staff member was slightly unsure, I then called up on the Saturday to confirm the dog situation, where I was told that this would be accommodated. When we arrived, we were told that we were unable to have booked a table outside & we would have to find a table if we wanted to eat, a party member explained that we had requested this via a booking & that we had confirmed twice that it would be fine. The greeter was also quite rude about the whole situation to a party member, who basically said (in a nutshell) that we couldn't have booked a table to accommodate a dog because there is no outside booking. I then went to speak to her regarding the situation & she did apologise & advise we'd been misinformed, but would basically have to fend for ourselves, at the time there were 6 people sat on a table for 4. She then did find us a table of 6 and was helpful in doing this for us. However overall we all agreed we were made to feel like it wasn't their problem that this had happened. When the food arrived, 3 out of the 6 meals were stone cold, the person who this was flagged to was very helpful and sorted us out straight away & was very apologetic. However, the portions were all over the place, some of us had 3 pieces of meat & some only 1 etc, some of us (all eating the same meals) were missing veg portions also. Our tables was not cleared the entire time we were there & nobody came to check how we were, given the amount of staff present we felt this was strange. We were not offered any compensation for the table issue or the quality of food issue either. Nobody even asked how our food was, I had to go and find a server to complain. Unfortunately it was quite a stressful meal when you would expect a high level of service for the prices the Met is charging, we discussed leaving after the table issue, but only stayed because we felt we wouldn't get in anywhere else. You would have thought they would have offered some compensation because it did feel like one issue after another. Wouldn't come back here agin based on this,...
Read moreMy husband and I ate here last night to celebrate our anniversary. We have eaten here many times in the past and came back because we have always enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Last night was very disappointing though. To start with the positives, our starters and dessert were lovely, as was my husbands main course. However, as a person who suffers from a gluten intolerance I asked if there was a separate gluten free menu, or gluten free options available. I was told the only dishes available were the naturally gluten free options marked on the menu. As a vegetarian as well this left me with a very limited option. I accept it is my choice to be vegetarian, however, it is not my choice to have a gluten intolerance. Come on The Met, you can do better than this. It is so easy these days to offer gluten free breads and pastries. Having ordered my main, a stuffed aubergine on a bed of quinoa, it arrived looking like a cow pat that had been baking in the sun. The quinoa resembled eating cinders and the aubergine was very dry. The only saving grace was the decorative pomegranate and sweetcorn kernels. I would have mentioned something to one of the waiting staff but that brings me to another point. The staff were so inattentive throughout our time there. We were left waiting too long between courses. The first chance I had to mention about my food was when someone came to clear our plates. To be fair, when I mentioned it, I was told the cost would be deducted from our bill, which it was. Talking of the bill, my husband had to go over and ask for it from a member of staff who was too engrossed in wrapping cutlery in serviettes to notice us. The final insult was when I asked for an Espresso Martini to be told they don't do them! All in all a very disappointing evening, I'm not sure I will be in a...
Read moreFew weeks ago I went to Metropolitan with a friend and our children for a coffee while waiting for our partners. We had planned to have dinner there altogether. We sat at the area next to the pizza place. The area was almost empty just our table and another one with a group of people. The people sat on the other table started to shushed almost since the very moment we arrived. At the beginning my friend and I thought it was a kind of joke between them and not something towards us, as you expect that between adults if you have a problem you will come closer and address and explaining the issue, instead of using this kind of passive aggressive behaviour. The shushes carried on for a while until one person of that table shouted “shut up”. At that point, although my husband had just joined for dinner, we decided to leave. I was very upset, as metropolitan was a pub I used to go very often. For that reason I recognised that some of the people who sat on that table were indeed workers of the pub. We meant to leave the place without arguing. However, when we passed close-by them, we heard “it was about time “. According to them it was not time for children to stay there (7 pm at that point) however there is not any rules or policy that says children cannot be there at that time. Besides inside the pub was full of children. For me the whole experience was very inappropriate and unpleasant. Obviously as I said to them it was the first time I was treated like that and the last because I won’t come back there again. And certainly, I will make sure that this experience is well spread and I will retell as many people as possible because to be honest no one deserves to be treated like that and much less by workers...
