I only live around the corner and often walk past this restaurant and gaze in, curiously, but haven't really been able to justify the cost until last night (girlfriend needed cheering up). I really think every aspect of this restaurant was perfect, from the greeting at the door, having our coats and scarves taken to the cloakroom, the level of attentiveness by the waiters/waitresses was spot on: not too near or intense to be uncomfortable/irritating and not too far or infrequent to be frustrating when we wanted to place orders or ask for some more drinks etc. The draught Stella Artois was very clean tasting, like drinking it in Belgium itself, the meat (swordfish, rib eye steak) was cooked to perfection, and very tender, hand cut chips and seasonal greens (green beans, peas, mange tout) were also excellent. The music playing was at the best level possible, so it really was background music, not intruding on the conversation at all, not needing to raise our voices to get the attention of the serving staff. Finally, the desserts were truly spectacular... I recommend this restaurant very highly and literally cannot think of anywhere I've eaten that has produced such consistently high quality food over the entire meal, with the added bonus of a great atmosphere produced by the combination of the staff and the...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Piccolino Didsbury and it was an absolutely delightful experience. From the moment we walked in, the staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive, making us feel right at home. The restaurant has a beautiful and relaxed ambiance, with an inviting decor that adds to the overall atmosphere.
However, it was the barman Michele who truly made our evening memorable. Not only was he extremely knowledgeable about the extensive drink menu, but he was also incredibly friendly and engaging, taking the time to chat with us and make recommendations based on our tastes. His cocktails were expertly crafted and absolutely delicious, and he went above and beyond to ensure that our drinks were always topped up.
As for the food, it was simply exquisite. Each dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor, using only the freshest ingredients. The seafood linguine was a standout for me, with perfectly cooked pasta and a rich and creamy sauce.
Overall, I cannot recommend Piccolino Didsbury enough. The combination of delicious food, excellent service, and a warm and inviting atmosphere make it the perfect spot for a night out. And with Michele behind the bar, you're sure to have a truly exceptional...
Read moreGiving three stars for food simply because of the huge inconsistencies. Came on Monday 30th June at around 5pm and the food was stunning. Everything we ordered tasted fresh, was presented beautifully and was generous portions. We had the gamberoni starter, truffle arancini, the roast potato and broccoli sides and a Caesar salad main. It was so good, we booked to come again on the 10th July, just ten days afree and the difference in the food was crazy. The gamberoni starter barely had any sauce, wasn’t as flavourful or fresh and wasn’t presented as nice, it even came on a different plate. The roast potatoes were also different and the broccoli side was swimming in oil and lacked flavour also. The Caesar salad was tiny in comparison to the one we got on the Monday and the prawns we requested in it (as a substitute for the chicken) were overcooked, hard and nothing like before. This has put us off coming back because one thing we cant stand is inconsistency when it comes to quality of food. Whoever worked the Monday shift around 5pm needs to train the chef who worked in the afternoon on the 10th July or you’ll lose customers. One clearly put love into the food they cooked and the other...
