A hidden escape right in the middle of Manchester City!
We adore this stunning green escape. @thewhitworthcafe is made entirely out of glass and steel. The restaurant provides 360deg views while you enjoy a beautiful lunch.
We ordered the Rose Lemonade (pro tip: ask for a glass with a slice of lemon in it for extra lux). Our food included the Nourish Bowl with Chicken (£9.50) and Roast Pepper & Artichoke Barbakan Sourdough Sandwhich (6.95). We thought they matched each other perfectly and loved sharing both of these options. We’d describe the food as very fresh tasting and we enjoyed it thoroughly. It would be perfect for a warm summers day or just a meal full of goodness.
The best part of this restaurant, is by far the views. It’s peaceful and scenic whilst protected from the elements. We visited @thewhitworthcafe on a glorious sunny day and we’d love to go again when it was raining to experience the pitter patter of rain drops around you (without getting wet). Our biggest tip would be to book a table and ask for one in the far corner for optimum experience with uninterrupted views.
You can find this beautiful cafe on Oxford Rd, in Whitworth Gallery (opposite MRI).

No organisation.
Tables filthy and not cleaned. Discarded food under the tables.
Tableware and cutlery are no more - only takeaway boxes and wooden knives and fork that snap with the slightest pressure.
Cakes and treats at the counter left out in the open to be sniffed and sneezed over by queuing diners.
Orders might take a quarter of an hour to make but no table service - you must stand and wait in the same area people are queuing until your number is called. Meanwhile others in the queue are confused about whether youre in the queue or just waiting.
Ordered vegetarian flatbread, get to the table and it's chicken stew. Go back to change it - met with confusion and no one seems to be in control.
It's such a shame because the space itself is stunning and holds such potential! With skilled staff and management, organisation, table service, silverware and crockery, it could be one of the best spots in Manchester!

Read morecame into the cafe with a friend to do some studying with our laptops. the sign on the table clearly says that this is a study/laptop area between 11am and 2pm weekdays and all weekends. after being there for 15 minutes we were approached by a staff member who quite rudely told us we weren’t allowed to sit there and claimed the sign should say ‘this is not a laptop/study area’ and that someone must’ve ’rubbed off’ the no. this was quite funny to me and my friend as it was quite obviously not true.
the staff member had so much attitude towards us, probably because we were the same age as her. our sign wasn’t the only one that stated this as well.
we then spoke to another staff member who also had the same attitude and clearly didn’t want to admit that they were in the wrong.
overall a bad experience, felt very uncomfortable and unwelcome. won’t...
