What's your flava (Caribbean & Jamaican Takeaway) — Restaurant in Manchester

This shop had different owners, unfortunately closed during covid, the food was authentic and tasty, I would eat here on a regular basis.

Now, I ordered a magic bag from too good to go. Took a chance as I know they have new owners, very disappointed and a little fustrated in what was presented.

Rice and peas were burnt, chicken was tasteless and tasted like yesterday's meat, which to my surprise when I was waiting I saw them place chicken in a container which I presumed would be frozen or placed in the fridge for the next day. I do not agree with this, especially when you're promoting fresh cooked food. Considering I paid £8 for food, there was not much variety either the soup had no soup in and was tasteless also.

Over the year's I have seen many caribbean restaurants open and close, and many immitated by those that have no Caribbean background or experience of Caribbean cooking, this can have a negative impact on Caribbean food shops that are authentic and cook their food with love. The food I purchased was not authentic Caribbean food. Educate yourself in flavours and cooking processes. Disappointed, there aren't many Caribbean takeaways in my area that serve good food.

DO NOT EAT FROM HERE! First of all everyone must note this place has a very poor hygiene rating by the food standard agency! A 2/5 rating (improvement necessary)! Needs to rebrand to 'where is the flava' The food is diabolical and disgusting. Rice is bland, food has poor seasoning, salty and oily. The worst jerk chicken out there. If you can't make rice and jerk chicken you have no hope! Seriously store bought food is miles better or making it at home. Do not waste your time or money on this btech Caribbean food. The people running this place know nothing about the cuisine and haven't tasted real Caribbean food it seems or tasted the competition. It is not authentic food at all with no heratiage and it's an insult to the cuisine. There are many Caribbean places in Manchester far superior to this low standard place that uses cheap produce. Went for Too Good to Go and paid £4 for something that's worth £12 according to the app. Was disappointed with the flavours let alone the portion size. It's not something from their menu. It was chicken and a lot of rice with some instant takeaway curry flavour. There was no sign of actual sauce in liquid form so what's the point of giving me a fried dumpling that was super dry? One could argue that the rice and "peas" (barely any) absorbed the sauce but that's interesting because it was supposed to be served fresh and I picked up the order before the arranged time at 5pm (they close at 8pm) and ate it soon after.
