I entered this branch of Maccy D's on a mission. A mission to have 5 minutes of 'me time', without fear of the wife making me do a household chore, whilst avoiding the mamba and spice heads outside.
So, I settled down into a pretty nice ambient surrounding with a McCafe latte and just enjoyed a bit of people watching in between catching up on work emails.
And, I've got to say it was pretty entertaining!
It all started with one chav entering, talking loudly to her 'blud' on her presumably stolen/parent bought iPhone X. She settled in close by and kept scratching her flaps and sniffing her fingers for a good couple of minutes. I wondered if she was gearing up to order a Fillet'o'Fish, but alas, she got to rock concert decibels on the phone without ordering.
She abruptly hung up, and soon an ensemble of 6 perm-haired chavvy lads joined her, giving it good bantz and secret handshakes amongst their fam. At this point, I was expecting a rush for the queue to get the Happy Meals ordered, but out of nowhere, like some mystical figure, the Maccy D's manager appeared to say that flappy bird was 'barred from the premises' and to leave immediately!
Alas, the crew did not take kindly to this. One player attempted to mediate by ordering a small bag of fries to justify they were paying customers. He was served quickly and efficiently, as one would expect at a fast food establishment, and began to hand out fries to his blud peers. The manager was quick to ascert his authority, and reminded flappy bird she had to leave the premises.
You can imagine what happened next. I'm fairly certain that Maccy D's laces it's fries with a salt/cocaine mix so regular punters develop a dependency on them, and tempers flared. The perm-haired youths became brave in numbers, standing up to defend their fishy friend. I was expecting all hell to break loose any second. You could cut the atmosphere with a knife.
That was, until, a softly spoken voice entered the fray. This lady said "Come on Chelsea, your nan's cooking your favourite turkey dinosaurs and smiley faces with beans at home. Let's go without a fuss."
What a legend.
I couldn't help but chuckle as tensions dissipated and the suddenly brave boys became very timid in the presence of a parent.
Flappy Bird and the youths departed, flush with embarrassment. Danny the manager had the look of a warrior who had just defeated his longstanding foe. And I, had witnessed more entertainment in 5 minutes in Mansfield Maccy D's than an entire series of XFactor and Strictly could provide.
In summary, well impressed. And the coffee wasn't bad either. So if you're visiting Mansfield, for a real and authentic Mansfield experience, make sure you visit...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis McDonald's restaurant was extremely busy (as usual) and the few vacant tables available, were dirty and had food wrappers and cups on them. It was raining outside, and so the floors were also very wet, muddy and slippy too. There were cleaning operatives there, but they were just stood talking rather than cleaning.
I ordered our food via their onscreen contactless system, but the food took 25 minutes to arrive. It seemed to myself and others who were also waiting, that they were prioritising sending out orders to the delivery drivers from Just Eat, Deliveroo, Uber Eats etc over serving the waiting customers in the restaurant.
When our food finally did arrive, it was barely warm and the server that brought it, put it down and swiftly left before I had chance to ask for sugar and milk for my coffee. I asked one of the cleaning operatives and she just sighed and stormed away to fetch some. On her return she simply slammed it down on the table and left. Later I had to inform the same lady that the bbq sauce dispenser was empty. Her response was 'I'm busy, try one of the others around the corner or use the tomato'! I really couldn't believe how rude she was. Definitely in need of some customer service training at the very least!
I also tried to take my disabled 5 year old son to the toilet while we were there. The designated disabled toilet is so incredibly small that I struggled to fit his wheelchair in there. Goodness knows how a disabled adult would cope! Once we were inside, and I'd squeezed the door closed behind us, there was no room whatsoever for me to stand beside his chair to lift him from it, pull down his clothing and place him on the toilet. Personally I think this is absolutely disgusting, that the most well known restaurant chain in the world, still don't adequately accommodate the needs of their disabled customers. They should be ashamed on themselves.
For all the above reasons, I definitely wouldn't recommend this restaurant to others, but least of all to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMe and my friends were being completely respectful and eating when security stormed over and told us to not sit in a big group as it ādidnāt look goodā. After weād done this they kept staring at us and then came over ONCE AGAIN and told us to leave when only a couple of us had finished our food. We are all minors and most of us are below the age of 15 so we donāt want to leave any of us vulnerable and alone. Because of this, we stood outside (not blocking the door at all) to wait for our friends we had been forced to leave. Then FOR A THIRD TIME they came out to us and told us to move away from the door whilst our friend (now alone) was still inside no where near the end of her meal. When one of my friends went to go back in to help her get her bags together security stopped them and told them they couldnāt go back in at all. This annoys me even more because how did security know that they werenāt ordering more food? Iād also like to add that this isnāt the first time security has kicked us out. They claim it is because we finished eating but looking around so many adults/elderly people were also finished eating and security didnāt even look their way. This makes me obviously come to the conclusion that we are only being told to leave based on our age and us being teenagers. I DO NOT believe that that is how a worker in a business where all ages are welcome and even encouraged to go to should behave. I...
