PizzaExpress — Restaurant in Mid Sussex

Shocking customer service. Sat for almost 1 hour with no drinks. Felt we were ignored despite staff not busy at other tables and many mistakes made.

Took about 5 minutes for someone to even acknowledge us at the door

Took 40 minutes for us to be able to get someone’s attention to order initial drinks

We asked for water for the table, it never came

Some dips and extras asked for never came

Struggled to get attention to ask for the bill. A member of our group had to go up to the till and ask for it.

After we paid, and sensibly asked for the service charged removed after the shocking service, who we presume to be the manager came to our table and said ‘hope you enjoyed your meal!’ With the most sarcastic thumbs up ever.

The lady who wasn’t in uniform, was in a grey top so guess she was the manager, clearly ignored everyone we tried to make eye contact, and was super sarky at the end after missing out on her tip.

The young girl who served us also was friendly and food was ok, not as good as usual.

Compared to Uckfield Pizza Express which is fantastic, this was a shocking experience and we will never return. Need a serious staff shake up and...

We have been visiting Pizza Express for 20 years. Our experience at the Haywards Heath restaurant last night was by far the worst we have ever experienced. Despite our polite and attentive waitress, the service from the kitchen was appalling. We waited ages for our starters which came in relays. Some of us were half way through our main courses when we had to prompt the manager to remind him that we were still waiting for a main course and a side order. My reminder was met with rudeness - the manager continued to carry on with preparing take aways and failed to make eye contact with me. When the food eventually arrived and we questioned why the service was so poor, rather than engage in a polite explanation, he quoted the company policy on complaints and compensatory discounts that he could offer. Pizza Express need to decide whether they want to provide a take away service or a dining experience. They clearly cannot do both and currently appear to prioritise takeaway over dine in. My go to pizza place in town. The whole family enjoys it , especially with a voucher

Went out with the family tonight to celebrate the end of school for our eldest son! What was supposed to be an enjoying evening at one of our favourite restaurants turned out to be more than disappointing.

So sad to be saying this as it was always our favourite place to go. To start with the service was terrible and I don't blame the staff. They are overwhelmed. The manager seemed to be less than interested! It took 20 minutes to be offered a drink and another 10 to order. 40 mins later our doughballs came out with no apology, the entire time we were trying to get someone's attention and thought we had made it clear that we had been waiting a very long time.

Just as we were considering walking out our main courses arrived again no apology or offer of a second drink. Not worth the 120 quid it cost us.

Won't be going again!
