What a shame for a restaurant to decline as much as it has. We used to consider the Antep as our "Go to Restaurant". Alas after this evenings experience that is no longer the case. While the staff "tried" to give a service they just did not have the old wow factor. All the Old faces seem to have gone. Those on duty did not appear to have any pride in thier appearance. Gone were the crisp shirts and black trousers. 2 day old shirts and jeans seems to be the dress code now. Moving onto the food... While the starters were "OK" the main course was very disappointing. We had the Sharing Platter for two. This we had before and realy enjoyed it. So we knew what we were ordering. Or so we thought. Tonight the meats were very dry. The presentation was nothing like before. ( No peppers or tomatoes) . The majority of the meat was just chicken wings. Very disappointing. Then came the Bill. We appreciate that costs have gone up but tonight just was not the same value for money. Much less for a great deal more. Then there was the overall ambience of the restaurant. At first we both thought it was just us that thought the lights had been turned down. Then we saw two other couples actually using the torch on thier phones to read the menu & Bill. Realy? So it was not just us. So much so we really couldn't see the food on our plates Why? Perhaps the icing on the cake was as we left. No one said good bye thanks for coming. Nothing !!! As a final nail in the coffin as we went to walk down the steps out side the tiles were cracked and falling away and the hand rail was wobbing from side to side. Helloooo Health & Safty !!!
All in all not the Old Antep we had come to know and love. A great shame. Far from the 5...
Read moreOur booking was only 15 minutes late, not too bad , unusual for a pre booked table but we were looking forward to the food after all of the influencers reviews which were thick and fast on several social media channels, this place had a lot to live up to after the Antep Legacy. On entry it was clear it was massively over booked with insufficient staffing levels.
The team were quick with our drinks orders and did express there was a delay with food. Starters took about 45 mins, arrived before bread the bread and our table was half laid on sitting. The starters were good.
The staff were running around like crazy so you had to sympathise with them, but the manager was nowhere to be seen, which was really poor especially for staff morale, a couple of the staff were clearly stressed and upset which wasn’t nice, having worked in hospitality I would expect more supervision and support. Only 1 guy was seemingly able to take orders.
We decided to get our bill after our starters on hearing our 2 neighbour tables had been waiting for mains over 90 mins after heir starters. The waiter was unapologetic and quite brusque, he actually asked how long we had been waiting and told us he said there would be a wait. On balance we didn’t wany to wait any longer and after he kept sending bread to one of the tables, he must have been aware of the delays in service.
On leaving a large table next to us was complaining on the wait which was unreasonable and that they had been waiting without any drinks service for over an hour.
Hope the Manager who was formerly GM at SoHo house starts bringing some customer service to this Wolverton Stalwart or it won’t last long which...
Read moreI heard such a great things about this place, I was excited to go. However, my first impressions and visit wasn't great. Booking a table at 6pm on a Friday, I thought it would allow enough time to sit, enjoy and eat.
From when we were shown to our table, everything felt rushed and pushy. We ordered drinks and before two of our other guest arrived they wanted us to place our food order. Once our guests came, we placed orders. When the bread arrived, it was lovely but again we hadn't finished eating it when our main meals were started to be brought out. They couldn't wait to clear the table before we had finished the bread/ starter.
While eating, it felt uncomfortable as the serves just kept pacing, walking up and down checking if we had finished. One of our guests, had gone to the toilet and they wanted to clear her plate as they thought she has had finished. Not only were we were still eating, she hadn't finished.
We hadn't even been there an hour and it just felt that we were being pushed to hurry up and leave. The whole thing really put me off. I understand it gets busy and it was payday Friday, but that isn't an excuse. Feeling rushed (as there was a queue at the door and bar area), is never a nice feeling.
I can't knock the food as it was lovely, but the overall service I can't say I was a fan. I left feeling slightly annoyed and not with a good impression.
I love Turkish food, however I am in no rush to head back. Whether a restaurant is busy or not, or over booked tables, customers should never feel rush.
Rated 3 stars, as food was lovely, decor and...
