This used to be run by John Lewis but is now an independent retailer so you can not use your myJohnLewis free tea & cake voucher here. Went in on Sunday & was met with an unsmiling & unhelpful member of staff behind the bar wearing a black t-shirt (other staff wore grey). We were going to buy several cakes with our coffee but the Cake selection was poor & as there were no trays we would have to carry our plates to the table making it awkward to navigate our food past the tables & chairs. The fresh salads are lovely as are the Piazza’s. I didn’t have desert or cake but they looked equally appealing. Plenty of room to sit down. You order at the counter and then it becomes table service as you are given a number. Get a seat by the window so you can people watch down into Middleton Hall. This view is particularly attractive when the Christmas show is on. Unfortunately being an independent cafe you cannot redeem your John Lewis free cake...
