Achari Lounge — Restaurant in New Forest

Was excited to try a new Indian . I don’t eat takeaways hardly ever . Maybe 1-2 a year so this was a treat! Rang and ordered food they answered quickly . Explained to them I was a vegetarian and that I would like just a korma sauce on its own and no chicken just the sauce as I’m a vegetarian. Got to the shop / restaurant it was completely empty .

Wasn’t expecting another customer to be in there with his DOG making a food order which was a surprise and a bit disgusting in a food establishment!

Anyway picked up the food. Got home Dished dinners up went to eat mine only to feel chicken in my mouth!!!! I spat it out and went through the sauce to find piece of chicken in there which they hadn’t removed ! I have been a vegetarian for nearly 6 years and have never experienced this anywhere . I rang and told him. And the reply was ‘ what do you want me to do about it ‘? I asked why had I been served a vegetarian meal with meat in it. He claims it’s cooked separately which I knew was lies because the chicken had been cooked in the sauce and removed as the meat had started to flake. He took the phone into the kitchen and spoke to the chefs. I could hear their conversation. He repeated vegetarian vegetarian. He came back on the phone and said kitchen mistake . I said that wasn’t good enough and I specifically told them I was a vegetarian.

He said I give you credit next time you come in for sauce . I politely told him I wouldn’t be returning nor would I eat there again! Awful and disgusting and disappointing meal!

First time customers of Achari Lounge tonight. Sorry to say we won't return. -ordered online at 630pm for 745pm collection. -husband arrived at 740pm to collect and was met with people waiting for take away for over 30 mins. No email, phone call or msg to say food was delayed. -when husband would ask about food he was told, 'I'll go check' numerous times. No manager came forward at any point whilst husband was waiting. at 815pm my husband messaged me to say he's waiting til 830pm and then leaving. No one told him how long the wait would be. He saw people leaving the restaurant as soon as they sat down and the online orders not dealt with accordingly. -manager finally came over to husband when husband was brought food (about 830pm). -Husband had to tell manager there was no customer service, wait time is ridiculous and as first time customers we won't be back. Manager gave him £8 discount.

With all that said, the food was good. I ordered a chicken dhansak, husband had lamb tikka korahi. Just wasn't as enjoyable at 9pm.

In response to the owner's comment that we will return; I'm afraid sir that your poor customer service and lack of attention to new customers will not bring us back. We will return to our very friendly and satisfactory local curry house, Asha in Ashurst. We like to support local and being a new business we thought we would try yours, but again all I can say is that your poor customer service has let you down. Absolutely AWFUL experience! WORST Indian restaurant experience I’ve ever had! Booked a table for 8 in advance- arrived and one table of 4 was laid, the other was being used…. eventually these people left but it took the waiters 30 minutes to lay the table! No apology!

We ordered drinks and poppadoms around 30 minutes after being sat down. The drinks arrived but no sign of the poppadoms. A waiter then came over later to take our food order and asked how many poppadoms we wanted. We told the waiter we had already ordered these but he aggressively replied ‘tell me again’.

In all we waited 2 hours for our food and others waited even longer! Plates and dishes were cold, meat was hard as nails, the staff were unapologetic and the food was flavourless! To add insult to injury, the sauces came first and we had to wait for the rice… this meant our curries were getting even colder! Other tables saw sense and had simply had enough and left without paying which is what we should have done!

The men’s toilets were very strange too - a urinal and toilet in the same area with no door?? Strange!

We gave constructive feedback to what looked like the manager at the end and he just smirked and gave no apology. All 8 of us live in Totton and come from separate families and have all vowed never to return. You have lost lots of...
