Awful visit, though I will say the gentleman who took our order was polite and friendly. Where do I start with the rest of the experience... after ordering the food started to arrive about 20 mins later. It would have been nice if it had arrived all together, particularly for my parents who received the fries, but waited for their meat dishes. I ordered a side dish as my main - yet received a main dish. I was told to just take it and they would only charge me for the side portion. I don't like waste, which is why I ordered the side dish in the first place, so defeated the object. One of the dishes was awful, either over cooked or left standing in heat. We tried to get the attention of a staff member to give them an opportunity to resolve it, none was interested, nor did anyone pop to ask how our meal was. The first opportunity we had to report this, was when someone finally came to clear the table. Having reported our disappointment with one of the meals, we were informed because what had been edible was eaten, and nothing had been said to staff there was nothing that could be done. After returning the dishes to the kitchen we were then informed that we wouldn't be charged for the meal. Then we asked for the bill, it hadn't been a great experience and to be honest I just wanted to leave. I checked the bill then waited to pay. And waited. And waited, until eventually I went up to the deal and waited until the staff had finished speaking to ask to pay.
So, how would I summarise this place? Atmosphere - noisy, and distracting with one table posing on the stairs to take photos. Food - disappointing. Service - disappointing, and I appreciate its late on a Saturday evening, but you've still a full restaurant to deal with.
Would I recommend it? Absolutely not.
Would I return - Absolutely not, and I don't think I've ever said...
Read moreBe wary if you are a big table. So firstly the restaurant is stunning. Came for my birthday. Food was delicious but found the portions were on the smaller side. Jacob our server was spot on. What an asset to your team. We got our starters an hour and 15 minutes into our visit. They stated we would only get table for 2 hours as per booking policy. But thought they would give us more time due to food not arriving till beyond half way through the time slot. However they didn't so this gave us less than an hour to eat starters have mains and dessert. Before some people even finished dessert our hour was up I was feeding our baby and we kept getting asked to move along. I don't blame the servers it's not their fault, they'll be getting told to move us along dead on the time. I was being as quick as I could. Some of my guests left drinks as they were getting hurried and felt awkward. I'm not sure how fair the 2 hours is for a table of 9? Or any large table Especially if you don't get your starters till over an hour into the time slot. Really doesn't leave time for anything else. The rest of the evening felt so rushed. spoilt it for me. Such a shame because it's a beautiful place. :( I think time should be longer for large tables due to the time it takes for food to come. You would then allow people to have time for dessert and drinks? Not feeling so rushed. I'm not one for spending long at...

We recently had the pleasure of dining at Babucho Gosforth, I can confidently say itâs one of the best family-friendly spots weâve ever visited. From the moment we walked in, the staff greeted us with genuine warmth and made sure we felt completely at home, super similar to the quayside Babucho!
The food? Absolutely fantastic. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presentedâclearly made with care. Thereâs a wide variety of options on the menu to satisfy both adventurous eaters and picky kids, and theyâre happy to accommodate dietary needs or preferences.
What truly sets this restaurant apart, though, is how thoughtfully itâs designed for families with young children and those with special needs. The space is open and easy to navigate with pushchairs and wheelchairs, and the noise level is comfortable, not chaotic. The staff were incredibly patient and attentive, checking in often and going out of their way to make sure our kids were happy and comfortable.
Babucho is more than just a great place to ea on Gosforth high street - itâs a place where families can truly relax and enjoy themselves. We are so lucky to have this on our doorstep and Iâd recommend it to anyone looking for a meal thatâs as welcoming as it...
