I’ve been to this pub a few times before and always enjoyed their homemade skin-on chips, so I was looking forward to a good meal. Unfortunately, today’s experience was a huge letdown. I visited with two friends and ordered a burger (£15.50—not exactly cheap). Instead of the homemade chips I’d had before, it arrived with cheap, skinny fries, and the coleslaw listed on the menu was missing. When we asked the waiter about it, he bluntly told us they had run out. Fair enough, but I still paid full price for a meal that wasn’t as advertised. When I raised my concerns, the waiter was clearly annoyed. He offered me a drink (which I declined) and then said I could get a refund for the coleslaw at the bar. When we finished eating and went to the bar, we were told we’d get £1 back. To top it off, the girl at the bar tried to insist she had informed us they had run out of fries—yet none of the three of us had heard that. At least she apologised, which is more than I can say for the waiter. The beef brisket in the Reuben burger was dry, and to make matters worse, we had to wait at least five minutes after getting our food just to receive cutlery. The whole experience felt disorganised and unprofessional. Wouldn’t eat here again, which is a real shame as we had planned to come back for Sunday lunch. Safe to say we’ll be going elsewhere.

Sunday lunch at this establishment offered a pleasant setting, although there were some service issues that need attention. While the host was welcoming, they simply pointed to our table (Table 15) in the corner, and two other couples were served before us, even though we had arrived earlier. It almost felt like we had an invisible bubble around us. After waiting for about 10 minutes, I had to go to the bar and enquire about how to order food since we were not given any guidance. The beef dish we ordered was indeed delicious, but unfortunately, the cauliflower, broccoli, and carrots were undercooked, as evidenced by the sound of other customers struggling to cut through them with their knives. To their credit, when I provided feedback about the vegetables, a staff member courteously apologised. We are willing to give this place another chance in the hope that these issues will be addressed. Parking is difficult when busy as most of the streets around are permit holders only. We had to park two streets away and walk which wasn't much of an inconvenience.

Tucked away in Newcastle's Ouseburn district is a true craft beer gem: Brinkburn St Brewery's Taproom. Housed in a building steeped in industrial charm, the taproom is a perfect blend of urban grit and contemporary comfort, where reclaimed wooden tables and vintage brewery paraphernalia create an atmosphere of rustic elegance. Brinkburn's beer selection is their standout feature. Their line-up changes seasonally, showcasing the brewery's talent for creating diverse, meticulously crafted ales. Whether you fancy a rich, robust stout or a refreshing, citrusy IPA, Brinkburn has you covered. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, contributing to the overall welcoming atmosphere. Whether you're a craft beer connoisseur or just someone looking for a cosy corner to enjoy a pint, Brinkburn St Brewery's Taproom offers a memorable experience. Its commitment to local sourcing, innovative brewing, and community engagement sets it apart in Newcastle's bustling beer scene. Truly a testament to the city's rich brewing heritage.

We arrived for the slow cooked Sunday roast and ordered two beef and one lamb. Time ticked on and we asked a dark haired waitress after nearly 40mins had she forgotten our order as people who arrived after us were now eating, she didn’t seem too bothered and said no it’s on its way. Another 20 mins passed and we asked another fair haired waitress who was lovely and said she would check with the kitchen. Food finally arrived and one beef was warm, mine was cold and my partners lamb was literally frozen in the middle! Waiting an hour for frozen food costing £13.50 a pop that could have made my partner ill! What stung even more was the staff, we told the dark haired waitress and she actually gave us attitude as she took it back to the kitchen, then we told what looked like a manager to cancel our order we were leaving, he also didn’t seem bothered and said ok fair enough! As we were leaving the waitress came back and apologised saying it wasn’t good enough, I can only assume she or the chef checked the middle of the lamb and discovered the ice cube, realising we weren’t just complaining for the sake of it! Absolutely shocking, I could have dealt with the hour wait, even mine being cold as I was so hungry, but frozen meat and rude staff was too much, I’ve never left a restaurant like that and never review places but this was just such an awful experience. Advertising fresh slow cooked roasts that are obviously just then frozen and microwaved. We headed for the ship who have good food and lovely staff. Save your money...

19/03/2023 We had a booking for Mother’s Day meal. I have to express how disappointed I was with the experience. I had to ask for someone to clean the table , it was dirty, wet and full of salt. We had to wait one hour for our starter. At the time we told the waiter that there was a water leak, and splashing on to the table, and on to my bag, we were told the manager said there are no other tables and that it was condensation, am sorry but this is not good enough, something should be done about it, it is all across the floor on to peoples menus !! We waited one hour for the starter. We ordered drinks , 20 minutes later I had to go to the bar to ask for them. Waiting another hour for the main meal, Luke warm, I couldn’t eat the meal it was then cold. Then at the end a glass of Prosecco, this should have been on arrival ! I then asked for desert as soon as possible as I was not going to wait another hour. My son was disappointed that the afternoon didn’t go as planned. Let’s face it, they have 3 starters, normal Sunday lunch, and 2 deserts. They know how many people have booked for Mother’s Day lunch, so how on earth did they have organised chaos. No way would I ever go back or book my work event there. I’m so disappointed. We were in there 3 hours! I emailed them regarding this and they did not have the decency to...
