This is a top bar. Their reputation is highly commendable for sure. It is situated right in the Ouseburn/Quayside border vibe. There are so many things going for it: good beers, outdoor seating aplenty, an outdoor undercover immensely popular live stage, pleasant staff plus it does top grub. During the summer months we have, it is the Mecca for sociable people seeking UV and when the time is right many a live band under the archway (not all great, but I'm a Muso for what it's worth). Any downers? Connectivity is one, but it's not far from Shields/Walker Road or the quayside yellow Q route. It also gets rammed. Make sure your bladder is robust because the bog and bar queue can be extreme. A busy indoor scene is fine but don't pin your hopes on comfort unless you're a 6'5" towering 18 clem pillar ready to stand firm. There are however several other heavy hitting joints a mere stride or two away if things get too much here. If this isn't on your route then maybe...

Lovely pub/bar. We sat outside- there's a covered area with a stage and lots of seating available. We had the children with us- there is no children's menu but there was lots of choice and really good prices so we were happy to get them adult meals. The younger 3 went for hot dogs and fries- hot dogs were huge and great quality. Eldest went for the Honey Chilli Prawn Bowl which was super fresh; husband had a Cuban Grill Ciabbata, absolutely gorgeous; I chose a Classic Burger- the burger was perfectly cooked and the fries were so moreish. There was a band setting up as we were leaving and if it had just been husband and I we'd have stayed to watch with a few drinks from the extensive bar. Our server was absolutely lovely as well- hopefully we will...

Visited with my Boyfriend and Brother after visiting the Ouseburn festival (highly recommended) the pub was very busy with a big queue but all credit to the staff that they were quickly, efficiently very friendly and knowledgeable. Wonderful service even though they were rushed off their feet. All credit to them. An excellent range of real ales and other drinks at all good prices. Fabulous range of veggie food well cooked and prepared. Unusual choices as well not just the usual. Some amazing deals to be had. Outdoor seating which is amazing for people watching and cute dogs. Views of the river which is wonderful. Would be happy to go in alone and such a good stop off if walking along the Quayside with friends. Would recommend and...

Dropped in one Tuesday lunchtime and had a couple of pints of nice cask ale in this pub which, allegedly, was more of a brothel than a boozer until the late 1990's. Hipster vibe as apparent from the silly names of the beers, burgers in brioche buns and almost as many dogs as customers. But the barstaff were friendly and the drinkers chilled. Plus I welcome any venue that stands against the creeping plague that is "All Bar One" and its ilk. So, support local enterprise and swing bye for a couple.

Great atmosphere at this popular pub at the bottom of the Ouseburn just before the cycle hub. Great drinks selection and well priced too. Lovely staff. Great nibbles (brownies and crumbles are spot on). Interesting mixed clientele. Lots of outdoor seating. Clean toilets. Delicious Korean chicken burger today. Deal with drink (beer lager or soft drink) is good on Thursday for 9.95. Chips extra Proper atmospheric. Great tunes. Highly recommend
