Really friendly cafe specialising in craft beer. I've always had a friendly welcome and its not an intimidating or off putting beer geek place. Having said that they know their onions. Stock shows both great knowledge and a love of contemporary beer styles with cans and bottles from local breweries, known craft beer names from across the UK as well as international including Belgian classics including Trappist, abbey and saison. They have eight draft lines and two cask now. As well as tap takeovers, they often have Deya beers on draft and a Rigg and Furrow on cask. There are always a variety of styles on draft and cask. The little beer garden to the rear is cosy and well sheltered to avoid showers. There is a piano for show offs but this adds character. It's a nice spot for a coffee or a beer, for meeting friends or on your own. In fact outs a good spot for solo drinking and you are not treated like you have two heads if thou just want a quiet pint or 2/3s by yourself. Also good for a take out can or bottle. They've teamed up with Flint Pizza down the road so thou can eat and they also have an arrangement with a local cheese company. A great addition to the burgeoning Chilli Road food and drink scene (If that is a thing!).

When the Elder Beer Cafe opened, it was a tiny beacon of light, warmth, hope, and good takeaway coffee and beer in the middle of the grim times of lockdown. Now we're out of lockdown, it still is all those things, except you can sit down inside it now :-) Truly excellent beer, and a smart partnership with the local pizza takeaway means you can order a pizza to eat with your beer. Recommended.

Decent place located in a converted shop, with a good range of beers, including some super strength ones. Fair prices. Not that much atmosphere, but a good view of the street and passersby from the front window seats. A nice enough neighbourhood bar basically.

Lovely attentive friendly staff, great choice of ciders, wines and beers and a relaxing atmosphere. Back yard for sunny days. The snacks that used to be available, especially the vegan sausage rolls/ pasties and brownies, were delicious and complemented the coffees and teas. Can I suggest wrapped chocolate bars - which wouldn't waste- could be available to go with the hot drinks? Flint Pizza/Eider Cafe have an arrangement where you can eat their pizzas in the Cafe. The owners have also said customers can bring their own cakes in to eat, which is very reasonable 😀...
