Florence Jesmond — Restaurant in Newcastle upon Tyne

We booked a tae on December 31st here at Florence and we specifically wanted to order from their New Year’s set menu they had on the website however when we showed up, we were informed that that particular menu was not even available which was quite disappointing so we ended having to order from the usual menu. We ordered a “Biscetta 8oz rib eye steak” and a “Filetti di Spigola sea bass fillet grilled in foil with shellfish” and some starters however the steak was absolutely awful as it looked like frozen steak from a supermarket and tasted more like a fillet than a rib eye and the sea bass dish was served in a very watery sauce with no taste and the boiled vegetables that came with it were so crunchy and looked like they’d just been boiled for 10 seconds with no seasoning or taste either. When we brought this to the waiters’ attention, they offered us some complimentary drinks however we waited a good 20 minutes for the drinks before we had to walk over to the bar to find out why it was taking so long and found that the drinks were just sitting on a tray on the bar! It seemed that they were understaffed as the service was rather slow throughout the night however the staff were nice and atmosphere was nice but unfortunately the whole experience was very unpleasant as it was a special occasion and our first (probably the last) visit to...

Terrible experience, meal didn't turn up, blamed chiefs for getting confused and forgetting a meal (£30 fillet steak) was offered a free beer?? left the restaurant without a meal, the front staff were very disrespectful towards our family when confronting staff regarding our discrepancies regarding the bill (additional items added) was told "its only a glass of wine" (which cost £9) blamed us for splitting bill which caused confusion. Staff (female) confronted my 75 year old father as we were leaving as he apologised for opening the door and it banging, the "female employee" said "not sorry for the way your daughter spoke to me?". Honestly one of the worst experiences we have had and not surprised they have changed their name several times. Avoid.

Edit in their response: Even thought my meal never showed I was extremely pleasant to the staff serving. I had nothing to say to the staff so this once again is a lie, the staff claimed we had to ask to split the bill before we ordered and now claiming we argued? and asked to split the bill later? Both false and lies. Unbelievable they're arguing on their reviews now and shows the kind of service you will be...

If you haven't been to Antico Jesmond then I think you should maybe try it.... On arriving we were greeted and shown to our table... Not once we're we rushed... The staff member who had our table was an absolute diamond... And girls he was rather dishy.... Just ask for Chris.... And the boss himself isn't shy on working either...i do believe his name was Antiono...Chris took our drinks order and we pondered over starters... His suggestion as there was 6 of us was to order a few starters that we could share... The pane e olive.... Bucce Di patate... Funghi trifolati... Caspesanta... And the pate was to die for... After tucking in we ordered main courses again nothing was rushed and I expected to wait as the restaurant was filling up... Again not disappointed and I was not willing to share fillet steak....
