4.5/5. My partner and I tried Dosa Kitchen for the first time last weekend, absolutely outstanding! It’s just around the corner from us, wish we went sooner. Bigger inside than expected, interior is nice, decor is simple but effective, it works. Very speedy service, I can’t remember the last time food arrived so quickly. I had the Chilli Paneer, Karaikudi Kadala Kuruma with Malabar Parota and Potato Masala. My partner had Thally Vandi Tikki, Madurai Butter Chicken with Jeera Rice. The most I’ve enjoyed a meal in a very long time. My partner also loved it. The flavours partied on the palette like the summer after leaving school. There wasn’t a single part we didn’t enjoy, dreamy. The Malabar Parota was a surprising standout. My uncultured, inexperienced British tastebuds were confused and delighted in equal measure. “Flavour? What is flavour? What is this divinity, and why have we not been blessed with it sooner?!” they asked. My tastebuds were teleported to another world, a world thankfully far from the unseasoned misery of GB, a world they are very keen to get back to. I really liked the Guava Sunrise, the hit of sweetness after the spice was sensational, my partner found the mint overbearing. I wasn’t too keen on the Chola Kings lager though. Staff were by no means rude or unprofessional but did find them slightly awkward, and not the friendliest / most welcoming. At two points, two servers came up to the table, just a minute or so apart both times, and asked the same questions, it’s a nitpick but I wish that was communicated better to save date night from the interruptions. Reasonable prices, was expecting it to cost much more given the amazing quality. Cannot recommend enough.

I recently visited Dosa Kitchen, and I must say, it was one of the best Indian dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. If you’re looking for authentic South Indian food with real flavor and tradition, this is the place to go. I ordered the classic dosa and idly, and both dishes were absolutely delicious. The dosa was perfectly crisp, with just the right texture and flavor, served with flavorful chutneys and a rich, warming sambar. The idly was soft, fluffy, and steamed to perfection — a true comfort food that reminded me of home-cooked meals. My friend went for the DK Special Dosa, and it truly lived up to its name. It was generously filled, beautifully presented, and packed with unique flavors that gave a modern twist to the traditional dish. He couldn't stop talking about it! What stood out most at Dosa Kitchen, besides the great food, was the authenticity. The taste, the ingredients, and even the presentation stayed true to traditional South Indian cuisine. It’s not often you find a place that respects the roots of the dishes while still delivering on taste and quality. The atmosphere was clean, casual, and welcoming. The staff were friendly, helpful in explaining the menu, and made sure we had a great experience from start to finish. Whether you're familiar with Indian food or trying it for the first time, Dosa Kitchen is a must-visit. The menu offers a great variety, prices are reasonable, and the quality is outstanding. I’ll definitely be going back to try more of their specials — especially that DK Special Dosa again! If you're craving real Indian flavors, this is the spot. Highly recommended!

My experience at Dosa Kitchen was delightful from start to finish. The ambiance instantly put me at ease, with a warm and inviting atmosphere that made me feel right at home. What truly elevated the experience was the background music, with soothing instrumental tunes from Tamil Nadu that brought back fond memories and added to the overall cozy vibe. As for the food, it was a taste of home away from home. The flavors were reminiscent of homemade dishes, comforting and satisfying. While the spice level wasn't quite as bold as what I'm used to back home, it still packed plenty of flavor and authenticity. Dosa Kitchen truly shines when it comes to their specialty: dosas. I opted for the DK Special, and it quickly became my favorite. The dosa was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, filled with delicious fillings that left me craving more. Overall, Dosa Kitchen is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Tamil Nadu cuisine in Newcastle upon Tyne. Whether you're a dosa enthusiast or simply looking for a taste of home, this restaurant delivers. Highly recommended!"

I have been there a few times and the owner has accused me of being rude and he has sent me the following email:

Dear Mr Patel,

We confirmed your booking via our reservation system. We mention on our booking form to please check junk/spam mail for our confirmation emails. We confirm around 1200-1500 bookings a month via this system. For any issues you can always call us and we can resolve.

While I’m replying to this issue, let me also address the complaint you made a few weeks ago. We confirmed your original booking, but could not accommodate your subsequent request to be next to a radiator (those tables were already booked and could not be rearranged).

You followed up with an inaccurate, vindictive, and poorly written review.

We have a few off street parking spots available on a first come first served basis. Plentiful free parking is available around the corner on Holly Avenue West. Our restaurant/dining room management team are deeply experienced with a collective 85 years of experience. Yes we do employ students, it’s not a revolutionary strategy. Many restaurants do it, and we pick folk who are extremely hard working and dedicated. They pick things up very quickly, and as a team combine to deliver a great experience for our guests. We pride ourselves on giving people a chance. We support them, and after their tenure, they walk away with some great customer service experience which they find valuable for their ongoing pursuits. Don’t look down on them. They are like family to us.

Our dining room can get cold during the colder months - we do our best to keep it heated. On the day you wished to visit us it was absolutely fine. How do you know if was cold when you didn’t come in?

We were straight with you. You didn’t like the answer.

100’s of people frequent our restaurant regularly. They are like family to us. You claim to be a regular customer. But each time you have visited us, you have adopted the persona of a playground bully. Last week you gave us a 1* review, whereby you didn’t even dine with us.

We would not have agreed to support your event. You are also not welcome to our restaurant anymore.

We don’t take this kind of action lightly. But we are also human beings, and deserve a modicum of respect.

We wish you well for the future.

Best...

Very rude waitress (name:jeny/gen): Four of us went with a baby on our baby's first birthday. We were treated really bad by one of the waitress, her name is jeny/gen. she came and taking order and we were all giving the list of order we needed, we were still telling what we need, meanwhile she was saying that i ll bring some of the items first and the rest next and my husband said ok that's fine and he continued to tell the items we were ordering, and she started " you are not listening to me" i ll bring some items later." She was so rude and we don't expect her to smile and speak in a sweet way she doesn't have minimum manners of serving the customers. And i was so upset and angry but i didnt say even a word. Then again when we were getting the items she came in hurry and took the plates off the table along with the plate which had a food that i was feeding for my baby, I felt that she was in hurry beacuse it was busy and didn't say anything. as we had more food to come i thought I can give her that food. And we were almost done but we had half dosa in one of the plate when my husband just went to pay the bill and meanwhile I was feeding my baby the small peaces taking in my hand. And she did not even ask me if i needed the plate with food quickly she took the plate again with more food than before. I was really upset and felt really bad for the way she ignored if we were eating it or not. And she was hurry in clearing everything up without even asking me a single word. we understand it was a busy day for them but that doesn't mean she can behave the way she did.

Me and my friend told it wasn't the right way she cannot do that to us. And she was still rude and said I ll just remove that item from the bill. That was not what we wanted. We were telling her when baby or anyone is eating food if you don't know if they are finished you cannot take off the plate without asking them if they are done. She was sooo rude I really hated the way she reacted and her face with arrogance and recklessness. She was lying that she asked me if she can clear the table which she never did from the start.

We would like dosa kitchen to make waitresses learn how to behave with customers. We don't expect to bow in front of us. We give respect and we expect the...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Dosa Kitchen, a South Indian restaurant that specializes in serving delectable dosas. From the moment I entered, I was impressed by the warm and welcoming ambiance.

First and foremost, let's talk about their dosas. I must say, they are absolutely outstanding. The dosas at Dosa Kitchen are perfectly crispy. They offer a wide variety of dosa fillings. Each dosa is bursting with amazing flavors and spices, leaving you wanting more.

Additionally, the service at Dosa Kitchen is impeccable. The staff members are incredibly friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. They are always available to offer recommendations and answer any questions that you may have. The waitstaff ensures that your dining experience is seamless and enjoyable from start to finish.

The menu beyond dosas also deserves praise. Dosa Kitchen offers a diverse selection of South Indian dishes, including flavorful curries, aromatic biryanis, and delicious appetizers. Each dish is prepared with great care and attention to detail, resulting in a symphony of flavors that truly excites the palate.

Furthermore, the ambiance of Dosa Kitchen adds to the overall dining experience. The restaurant is tastefully decorated, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. Whether you're dining alone, with family, or with a group of friends, you will find the ambiance to be both relaxing and enjoyable.

Overall, I highly recommend Dosa Kitchen for its outstanding dosas and exceptional service. Whether you're a fan of South Indian cuisine or want to explore new flavors, this restaurant is an absolute gem.
