Olive has been just mere minutes away from me this whole time, and I never even realised! Itās a wonder I didnāt as Iād been walking past the sign everyday, though admittedly, I am usually in a world of my own. As someone who goes to coffee shops daily, there comes a point when it can be difficult to tell a lot of them apart due to not a strong enough identity, not bringing anything different to the table etc. Olive does not have that problem. The coffee has personality and character. More intense, stronger, richer than most Iāve tried. Probably too rich for me to have daily, but whilst I may not quite become a regular, I certainly will enjoy it every time I do go. The banana bread was delicious, generous portion, and reasonably priced. My partner also really liked the brownie. I must also say that the barista was very cool, in an effortless and unpretentious way. Friendly, welcoming, polite, fun. Exceptional service. Some people just have that something about them. Heās doing an incredible job at representing the business, and making you want to go back. My partner and I actually spoke about how great he was once we left. My only nitpick about the place is that I really, really dislike the seats but thatās clearly not the priority. Itās evident that the focus has been on mastering the craft of coffee, and rightfully so. A lot of coffee shops are indistinguishable from one other, similar aesthetics, similar tasting products, it gets rather boring. Olive however, is refreshing and stands out for all the right reasons,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI recently visited Olive Coffee Co after years of hoping for a really great specialty coffee shop on the quayside. Needless to say, my prayers have been answered! I love that they use a coffee blend from Portsmouth - theyāre still supporting independent and loads of coffee shops around stock local but I really love being able to try something I canāt get anywhere else (probably never going to get to Portsmouth, or not very often anyway!).
As a vegan I was very happy to see that sweet and savoury options are catered for (supporting local independent Smashin Pasties) and oat milk for coffees.
I sat indoors to enjoy my coffee and as a solo visitor, I got chatting to the owner, Sean, who was an absolute joy to talk with. An all round lovely experience at Olive Coffee Co and I will...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIf I could give this place more stars, I would! Unlike a lot of places now, the staff that work at this coffee shop actually know what theyāre doing when it comes to making a coffee and they take their time making the drinks (which are stunning btw). As someone who loves coffee and buys a coffee out most days, thereās nothing I hate more than chain coffee shops like Costa and Starbucks, or cafes who buy these expensive machines but have staff who donāt know how to use them properly and make boiling hot or watery coffee and charge a fortune for it!!! This little spot however is a gem and one of my new favourite coffee shops. Just had a Spanish latte from there today and it might now be my new...
