Nando’s at The Gate offers amazing food and has an outstanding staff! My son, E, is non-verbal with autism spectrum disorder, severe learning difficulties, ADHD, and sensory processing disorder, which can make things quite challenging most days. However, he loves his routine, and most of all, he adores going to Nando’s every Sunday.
The team at Nando’s is exceptional when it comes to serving children with special needs, particularly Rebecca and Sid. They consistently go above and beyond for E and make us feel welcomed and safe. The atmosphere is incredibly inviting, and we feel like part of their family. No one bats an eyelid when E has difficult days or experiences meltdowns. Rebecca and Sid check in with us regularly to see if we need anything or if there’s any way they can help.
This restaurant is perfect for families with children who have additional needs. For us, Rebecca and Sid create a safe environment where we don’t feel judged. Our food is always hot and of high quality, and I can’t fault the exceptional service.
I’d like to share a couple of specific examples: One day, when E was having a particularly bad day and became agitated, Rebecca noticed us and immediately prepared one of the booths, placing olives on the table for E. On another occasion, Sid saw that E was upset and started getting our order ready for him. It’s these personal touches and the genuine care they provide that make their service outstanding.
For E, Nando’s is a safe place where he is treated like royalty without fear of judgment. I also appreciate the option to order extra and pay at the table, as it allows us to leave as soon as we’re done without the stress of waiting—something E dislikes, especially when he’s...
Read moreThe place was fairly empty and we were shown to a table for 2 people which was surrounded by other small tables with no room. We asked for a better table. Good start. Ordered on the app and the food came fairly quickly although was not super hot. My wrap was missing the perinaise sauce. I didn´t make a huge fuss, but I wanted my perinaise. So I wandered on down to the manager and said the perinaise was missing and no big deal could I just have some in a little pot and I would put it on myself. Well. I was told I was wrong and it did not show that on the screen it just showed plain. I said well that is odd, went and got my phone and literally had to SHOW the email confirmation which said no chilli jam and no lettuce. The imitator wrap has options to customise of jam, perinaise, and lettuce. It was their fault. And they made me prove my order. Even indicating on their screen (which was too far away for me to see) to try to say I was wrong. Humiliating. Please do not do this. Just because someone takes two things out, doesn't mean they don't want the third . And let's be honest, it is just some perinaise. No apology or anything when I proved I was right. I will not return and my advice to others is to make sure you have your confirmation email with you at...
Read moreHi May I say what lovely professional staff you have here in Newcastle the gate … my husband I had a Christmas shopping day 16 th December and called in for a delicious meal just after 9 pm … There was a couple of unsavoury customers who were testing the staff being overly merry !! And complaining in a loud attitude… these staff work very hard and dealt with this situation so well … please give these young and enthusiastic staff the credit they deserve… the situation was resolved by professional and quick thinking… no one in the business of customer service should ever have to put up with people who have had too much to drink and be insultive towards anyone…. Well done especially to the young duty manager that professionally dealt with the customers and the situation expediently… I would sincerely at higher management give these staff who were on shift recognition of their hard work … we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the service and attentiveness was 100 % merry Christmas and hope to see you again when we come...
