Wow, where do I start. From the moment we walked in we were greeted with a smile and shown to our table. We were surprised and how much bigger this restaurant is to what we imagined. We ordered drinks straight away and set about trying to decide which food to have out of all the deliciously sounding meals available. Once ordered, we took in the cosy atmosphere, considering how busy it was and the tables being close together it was still a nice vibe. We ordered 3 starters for the 2 of us as we weren't sure if they'd be small portions. They weren't so we shared them between us. The garlic bread and mussels in white wine sauce were mouth watering. My wife had the Crochette. Which she really enjoyed. Our mains turned up. I had the Calazone pizza which is quite spicy and used real shredded meat unlike any Calazone I've ever had before. It was so nice and the outer pastry was done to perfection. I'd asked for it to be slightly crispy rather than soft. My wife had roasted lamb rump. She absolutely loved it. It was so succulent. After that we couldn't eat another thing. I would like to add that Beth who was serving us was amazing. So attentive and friendly. In fact all the staff were working their socks off. We will definately be going back to try some of the...
Read moreBooked for Sunday lunch with wife. Have been before but not for Sunday lunch although have been to the sister restaurant in Washington for Sunday lunch. We were not disappointed when we went to Washington and the same can be said for Gosforth.
Although on a busy road, there is paid parking behind the shops on the opposite side (free on a Sunday making it ideal for Sunday lunch).
Very friendly welcome and throughout this stayed the same with staff who were friendly throughout but also attentive without being overbearing. Nothing to much trouble for them and with a lovely atmosphere everything on tha side of things was brilliant.
Then the food!!!
Decided to have a starter and I had the scotch egg and my wife the scallops to start.
In a way, wish we hadn't don't get me wrong, they were cooked and tasted fantastic but portion size is not an problem here so when the Sunday lunch came to the table, wow think we should have maybe not had the starter....haha
Anyway, it did not disappoint. Everything was delicious and we cleared the plates it was that tasty.
Awesome Sunday lunch in a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere with great staff, what more could you ask for.
Note: make sure you book,...
Read moreTerrible experience on sat 11th October made a reservation for 4 people asked to add one extra person, restaurant holds approx 70 but approx ten were dinning at 5pm. After a few sarcastic comments from the manager he put a chair on the end of the table which was fine for us but he continued to be rude.once seated he asked what drinks we wanted, I instead gave him constructive feedback about his aggressive manner when he said you can leave if you want. That was the nail in the coffin, we left. I will not spend money where I am not wanted. Just for reference if the business is reading this we were accommodated at your competitors where our bill came to 300 quid. Hospitality is a very difficult business, it takes nothing to be polite, you could have just said sorry we cant add an extra or adked us to vacate by a certain time instead you chose to be nasty and when called out for your behaviour you chose to continue to be rude. We will never grace your...
