Red Mezze — Restaurant in Newcastle upon Tyne

I came to Newcastle from London to visit some family. My mum's Friend who is a Local suggested us this place so we decided to take our guests here for dinner.

We were greeted by Moaz who looked after my that evening. He was amazing! We both spoke the same language (Arabic) though the rest of my party didn't, He recommended us the mixed grill platters and Cold Mezze platter.

Both the Cold Mezze and mixed grill were amazing! The starters were delicious, the main was hot, succulent, soft and also met the dietary requirements made by my mother.

Moaz was an amazing host, he looked after my mums specific Dietary requirement, he made sure the food we order will be plenty for our party. Him and I spoke for a bit and it was really nice to be welcomed by his warm, friendly attitude.

After our meal, He was ready with the Kahwa and even got us some desserts on the house His hospitality was amazing!!!

As we were about to leave, When paying there was no service charge, So I asked that I would like to tip as a small gesture of gratitude, and He REFUSED. It was a long back and forth between him and I but he was adamant.

Only For Him and His hospitality I will Drive from London to Newcastle again!

Must go for food, but you will miss the hospitality as its rare.

Food 10/10 Atmosphere 6/10 Service...

Finally I get the chance to write review... I've been in and out of the toilet all this time!!...Went there on Sunday... booked it before going... everything was cooked nicely... food was tasteless 😕... service was poor... not friendly... not happy 😒 people working there...we ordered mix grill and 4 special chicken wraps... wrap contained mushrooms so we ordered another one without mushrooms... got told 10 -15 mins... 40 mins later not done so I changed it to takeaway as we all finished and the wrap wasn't done... the size of the wrap was small compared to the ones we got inside... we paid full prices for everything... this place isn't value for money ... services was bad... they only started to be friendly as we were leaving... never ask how the food was or never got my order right e.g I ordered 5 cokes but got 4 than I had to ask again for 1 more after 15 mins coz I thought they were bringing 1 😅 but realised it wasn't a mistake 😅 they actually had 4 written down... for the price!..one would expect wow, quantity and quality but this wasn't nice and still hungry... don't mind pay the price but this place was a joke... over priced and I can go on... avoid if you can... go to pinar if you want Turkish food or there other...

Called yesterday on a wim. Service was shocking! Left waiting ages. Starter came and it was ok. Left waiting ages again for mains. Decided to get a taxi home and asked for the bill, the mains then miraculously turned up but we’d asked for them to take away. There was tables sat after us that got served before us, we were sat in front of the bar so pretty plain sight! Tables were given bread while they waited for their food, we received bread with the starter. Lambs liver was tasty, onion salad was ok. Didn’t have the mains when we got home as they were cold and we were quite disappointed about the over all experience. Not sure if we would return but purely based on the non service! Waiters were apologetic so this isn’t about them, just the lack of service and the wait time for anything (initially we were told it takes 15 minutes for the lamb liver, it doesn’t and was quite annoyed at being told a lie) were given 10% off the bill and some baklava, but to be fair we didn’t eat in, so quite a pricey...
