Very lovely family owned place behind the old Market food hall and opposite the bus station. A must visit spot for folks who love good home made and authentic street food. Our host Mohammed was very generous with his time, describing the dishes in detail and cooking everything from fresh and to order. We tried the Iced Hibiscus tea which was the first time I'd had it and it was beautiful. Colourful and refreshing. My partner had mint tea which was served in a lovely pot and with a wee glass and sugar on the side. Our mains were brilliant. I wasn't so brave and tried the chicken shish and it came with balady bread as a special extra which was a highlight! Salad was fresh, dressings tastey. I wanted to eat it twice! Partner in crime got the Beef Liver dish. DO NOT let that put you off. It was light, delicate, flavourful and plentiful. The rice it came with was great too. The owner came and checked in at the end and was kind enough to give us a sample of a felafel (get it for sure) crispy, garlicky, healthy and yummy and a free sample of baklava! Wow! Total gem. Totally lush, distinguished food! π₯° Incredibly friendly staff and modern, but with plenty Egyptian references πͺππͺ ambience make you feel really welcome!
On top of that it's worth to mention that it everything was very reasonably priced (for everything we paid less than Β£40 π₯π) and the location is brand newly revamped ultra trendy Newport Market! β£οΈ
