Since finding out about Newport food market in May this year, I've been visiting once every month and I always order from K-Way! I missed them in July when they were closed but I made up for it on my last visit yesterday!! All pictures uploaded are from meals ordered on 2 visits (I was too eager on one of the visits and forgot to immortalise the moment with a pic 😅) The Korean couple who run the place clearly know their cuisine and are lovely and welcoming! On our latest visit yesterday the owner played songs from the Netflix movie K-pop demon hunters for one of the kids in our party as she loves it. She was disappointed that they did not have Ramyeon on offer but the food ordered was eaten with pleasure and gusto! On all my visits I've ordered kimchi fried rice with a fried egg as this simple dish is my favourite! It's as simple as stir frying some rice with kimchi (Korean fermented cabbage) but it hits the spot every time! I've tried to replicate it at home but K-Way are obviously the experts! The kids tried it yesterday and loved it too but after a few bites it was a bit spicy for their little mouths! I wished you'd do a version with some of your yummy chicken meat as I don't eat beef wink wink 😉 I love their Tteokbokki (rice cakes cooked in a spicy, sweet and savoury sauce). I've ordered it twice now over 2 visits and it is so warming and I love the chewyness of the rice cakes. The kids have tried it yesterday and liked it too albeit a bit spicy for them. I need to have it again on a wintery day to warm myself with some gimbap to dip in!! I loooove their gimbap! These are nori sheets (seaweed) rolled with a filing of rice and cooked protein and vegetables (nothing like the Japanese sushi). We ordered a tuna gimbap and a prawns one yesterday. My favourite is the tuna! I dipped some in the tteokbokki sauce of course and it made it even tastier!! Their corn dogs are the best I have tried so far! I've had the mozzarella with potato dice in the batter, sprinkled with sugar and ketchup 🤤. Yesterday we tried the chicken sausage corn dog with ketchup and a mozzarella one with sweet chilli sauce on top, both without the potato dice in the batter and they were both delicious. Everyone loved the cheese pull! Their Bibimbap is also tasty (it's in my top 5) it's a bowl of rice with various vegetables and some gochujang paste. You should mix it all together to enjoy all the flavours in one bite, yum 😋 we had the egg bibimbap yesterday, with a fried egg and seasoned carrots, courgettes, mushrooms and bean sprouts. The kids enjoyed it before we mix it all with the gochujang paste, as their spice tolerance was already reached that day :D On my first visit in May I had kimchi fried rice and a side of chicken skewers with a buldak sauce 🤤 The chicken was cooked perfectly and tender! The buldak sauce is good if you can handle the heat! Yesterday we ordered japchae, a dish of glass noodles with vegetables. This was a nice dish but the black pepper was overpowering and made it spicy for the kids. I will definitely try it again and see if the pepper will be predominant again. The only dishes I haven't tried so far are the beef dishes but one of my friends had the kimchi fried rice with beef and liked it.
All in all I love this place and will definitely be coming back for my Korean food craving and to try dishes i haven't ordered yet!! It's one of the tastiest and healthiest cuisine in the world, always have a good balance of carbs, protein and vegetables! They cater for vegetarian, kids friendly and the meat is Halal. I highly...
Read moreMe and my partner tried K-Way at the start of April as we love trying new things, and I love coming to Newport Market whenever I'm visiting Wales (I'm from the southeast of England). The staff here are super friendly and lovely to chat to, we had originally gone to try the corn dogs. But we were sad to learn they had stopped doing them as no one ever ordered them. Instead we tried the teokkboki and the fried chicken skewer, both of which were so delicious! Full of flavour, made and prepared beautiful, 10/10 we could not recommend them enough. My partner then saw on Instagram that they were bringing the corn dogs back, and we were so excited to go back and try them. We've tried corn dogs from all over England, Scotland and now Wales. And I can safely say, these were the BEST we've ever had!! We ate here yesterday, my boyfriend ordered the mozzarella corn dog with ketchup and sugar, and it was so yummy! I ordered the mozzarella with sweet chilli, and I could've cried it was so delicious! The combination of flavours, the batter it's fried in, was just 1000/10. If you've never tried Korean street food or you're looking for the best corn dogs on the market, please check out K-Way!! I can't wait to come back...

We had an amazing experience at K-Way tonight. The Authentic Korean Boss and the Lovely Lady were incredibly generous and kind. Despite our 4-hour journey and their impending closing time, they went out of their way to care for us and ensure we had a great visit.
They treated our children to complimentary drinks, mochi, and crispy chicken bites, which was such a thoughtful gesture. The food itself was absolutely delicious—truly super yummy!
We travel to Korea sometimes, but now we know we don’t need a long flight to enjoy authentic Korean cuisine. We feel so lucky to have found this gem in Wales.
Tonight, we ordered Korean-style crispy prawn sushi roll and chicken skewers for our kids, and it was a highlight of our day. Thank you for creating such wonderful...
