The Pot — Restaurant in Newport

Can’t believe this place has a licence to serve food, greasy tables, unbelievably rude staff. Limited choices these days for breakfast in Newport so ended up here as it’s set in a beautiful arcade. Terrible food, burnt toast, cheap dry sausages, cold, left most of it. Stick on top of this no card payments! Dodgy? It’s 2024!!

Addition: Awoke this morning to an interesting email from the owner regarding my review threatening me with a solicitor. I am not remotely surprised based on my experience. Firstly, I am NOT your mate, if I was I assume I would have had a better experience. Secondly, this review is a copy and paste of my Tripadvisor review (try reading properly next time). Third, I spent good money in your cafe, unfortunately I cannot prove this as you don’t take card payments!! May be of interest to HMRC? Anyway, reviews are supposed to help you improve your business or understand when you are doing well, I suggest you take on board ALL feedback and treat it as a gift. Visited the pot cafe with my partner & my dog, I think the dog was welcomed more than us humans 🤣 (joke). The pot is very dog friendly, staff was so lovely & happy on arrival , its so refreshing to be welcomed like that 🥰 The theme of the place is so so cool, food was amazing, I went for a sausage sandwich and my partner had the big one (which looked incredible 😍) & Milo our little dog had a sausage😀 . Cleanliness was on point, tables was lovely and clean, toilets was pleasant and smelt floral. Service was was relatively quick and staff was very attentive. Both of the ladies was cooking, serving and cleaning as they go, which was great to see, they have a fab system which clearly works and I feel should be implemented by a lot of other businesses in the area ! Terrible experience, which is such a shame as we love to support local and independent businesses. The owner and staff had extremely poor attitude when we asked how long our food would be after waiting 30min. This was only because our car parking was going to run out, but we see this as a lucky escape as the place is grimy and unwelcoming. Our table was unclean and sticky, making it uncomfortable, and our coffee mugs were dirty.
