Looked to order on deliveroo, but was closed. I called and was advised to try after 530. I tried until after 630 so I Called to place an order with the newport branch. The order was taken over the phone for me to collect. The original dessert we wanted was not available so we chose another. On my way out of the door, it became available on deliveroo with the 20% discount... but I'd already placed my order. I got the order home with a cold starter and main and then noticed that the dessert had no Gelato as advertised on the menu and told on the phone.. I attempted to call several times but the call wouldn't connect I tried off of 3 different numbers and then it finally did the person hung up as soon as I said I just collected my order. When I had gone in 20 minutes before the restaurant was dead, only 4 customers there. I was told very rudely that they assumed I knew that gelato would not come with take away orders as its cold and would melt! . I was not aware and I was not told. I am very disappointed that I had to pay FULL PRICE for a dessert with HALF of it missing and that is zizzi policy not to provide ice creams on takeaway orders?? I have uploaded a video to Facebook chat conversation I have started with you. I asked for refund and was told to take the desserts back, but that would cost me more in fuel and parking than the refund would cover. As you should know it is illegal for a business to advertise a product or service and not fulfil, it is also against trading standards to provide a product not as described. Your staff should have offered at least a partial refund or voucher/discount, instead of expecting us to travel to solve the problem, they should have rectified it. Its a shame as zizzi was one of our favourite places to eat, it's a shame newport is our local, we will go...
Read moreOn entering we had high hopes. Looked vibrant and welcoming. Lovely bottle of wine delivered to the table and the starter sharing platter. It was going so well and we were enjoying the evening and the starter was very pleasant. Unfortunately this is where things took a turn for the worse. Half way through our starter a waitress arrived with our mains, she asked do we want it now or should she bring it back? Knowing full well if we opted to finish our starter and ask her bring it back later it would simply be the same dishes kept warm so we agreed to have the mains. We explained there was nowhere to put it on the table as our starter was still being eaten but the waitress ushered over another waiter to quickly clear the starter away. The main course was very underwhelming and resembled processed frozen food - far different from the starter. Main course was not acceptable and after being rushed it was very disappointing. Not once did anyone come back and check the meal was ok or if we needed anything. Then on a visit to the toilet there was a massive puddle on the floor which almost sent me flying! I reported this to the waiter but nothing appeared to be done?? Overall a promising and hopeful start but terrible service and communication. This is the first time ever in all the restaurants I have visited not to have left a tip but on this rare occasion I had no choice. Very very...
Read moreVegan pizza is delicious! Like the sticker so they don't get mixed up with other pizzas. (I've been places where this has happened). Staff attentive and helpful, but don't rush you.
They were happy to accept Tesco clubcard boost code straight off the phone (tell them before you order though).
Nice to be able to see the kitchen as they're cooking your food.
Have been here a number of times now and they've always got my vegan order right first time (seems a small thing but some places in Friars Walk can't seem to manage this), have provided good service and good food in a pleasant atmosphere.
Especially recommend if anyone in your party has special dietary requirements as they do gluten free as well. Ask for the gluten free/vegan menu on arrival which gives comprehensive information about what is available and what ingredients are used.
Wouldn't hesitate to...
