Courtneys Steakhouse — Restaurant in Newry, Mourne and Down District Council

We were out for a nice Sunday outing and wanted to have food on the way home. After hearing great things about Courtneys we rang and booked a table. We were warmly greeted by the staff downstairs who directed us upstairs. The staff were again very welcoming and gave us a lovely table by the window. Although this is a steakhouse there were good range of non steak options. We were provided with a lovely selection of breads to start and then small cups of the soup of the day …delicious. We were a part of 4, 3 opted for the slow cooked lamb shank with couscous and one having ribeye stick. Everything was perfectly cooked and the lamb was melt in the mouth with such great flavours. A relief on the steak culinary in Ireland. Ever since I’ve been to Ireland the last three weeks its been hard to get a steak properly cooked right. Right on my last night they have saved the reputation of Ireland for steaks for me. The venue is lovely overlooking the canal and the attention to detail is remarkable at this place, even some literature is provided in the toilet for lengthy visits to the loo. Moisturizer is also a big plus for me. The special crispy egg for the risotto starter is beautiful. As a connoisseur of eggs I must say the very fresh orange colored yolk can only mean that it was sourced it from a very good local place. I had 2 dogs with me so finding somewhere to sit outside in newry is not easy. My first time here and they are very experienced in serving food. The place was spotless. The food hot, tasty and delivered quickly. Condiments clean and well stocked. But the star of the show was the incredibly friendly, efficient and accommodating waitress. She saw I had the dogs and immediately took me a menu, brought all the accoutrements outside to me and informed me my food would not be long.
