We came in for two smoothies and two pancakes. When we ordered we were told there would be a "bit of a wait" for the pancakes. We were due to start a long drive home and had paid for an hour's parking. "A bit of a wait" we took to mean 20 mins, which would have been fine. In reality it took 45 mins to receive our drinks and 1 hour 10 mins to receive our pancakes. My friend I was with is 6 months pregnant and so a wait of this length with no update or explanation is unacceptable. After 1 hour I went to ask where our pancakes were (another family with small children who had been waiting longer having already been refunded and left the cafe). I was told "we told you it would be 20 minutes" which 1. incorrect, 2. rude and 3. we had in fact been waiting for 3 times this length of time. There was simply no urgency from the two staff. They were prioritising take away drinks orders from customers who had come in after us to the detriment of those waiting for dine-in food and drinks. At a much earlier stage, when it was clear that there were ridiculously long waiting times, takeaway orders should have been stopped while the staff focus on existing orders. The cafe is simply too large for the numbers of staff and some re-training is required for staff members on customer service and dealing with orders at sufficient pace. The food was great when it arrived, but was hard to enjoy given the overall experience. Needless to say, we will not...

I suffer very badly with PTSD and mental health. I have ESA ( emotional support dog) she has ID card, tag and all docu f proving my illness, Iissue in any or pub or cafe before telling me that I have to leave because they don’t want me there, I feel extremely disgusted and discriminated against my disability, I wish some people would educate themselves a bit more. REPLY: She is my service dog! I did wanted explain this and show him my ID to prove it but he didn’t even wanted to listen to me and shut me off immediately! Service and guide dogs in fact any dogs! are ABSOLUTELY allowed in the cafes, restaurants etc, as long as they don’t enter kitchen where food is prepared! Is upto the owner of the establishment if dogs are allowed to enter or no, so please don’t use “ because of law regulations “ phrase. So YES! your place is very discriminative, consider this is a service dog!! Please see copied and paste from blue cross website:

Dogs in pubs, restaurants and cafes

There is no law or any health and safety regulations that ban dogs from being in premises where food and drink is served or sold. However, they must not enter areas where food is prepared, handled or stored, for example the kitchen.

It’s up to the owner of the establishment that serves food and drink whether they’d like to...

I visited on a couple of occasions whilst living in Ilfracombe over winter. One of the multiple cafes on the high street this cafe is quite hard to see into as it suffers from condensation on the interior full windows, which makes it difficult to see inside and thus assess if there is room to sit. Once inside there cafe is split into 2 small halves, with the cash desk flanked by cake displays, with chalk writing detailing what cakes are available that day and at what price. On every visit, the staff were friendly but seemed overwhelmed/inexperienced and anything ordered from the menu took some time to arrive as there seemed a lot of multi-tasking going on. The menu was very poor in terms of visibility and I've attached some pictures to illustrate how faint the writing was. Seemed to attract a younger clientele maybe based on being associated with the young people running the cafe. Unfortunately both the savoury food and cakes were quite underwhelming in taste and texture. Given the competition nearby it's hard to...

Really great café in Ilfracombe... I would go as far to say the best! Friendly staff and delicious food - we had great brie, cranberry & avocado sandwiches (which were very deep filled!) and coffees. Also, very accommodating to babies and small children with highchairs, child's menu and toys for them to play with. Plenty of space for a pram too. We didn't have room for a cake unfortunately but they looked amazing so we will be back one day to try them! Only disappointment is we heard they don't allow dogs (we usually have ours with us but didn't this time) but that's due to an open kitchen so totally understandable. Highly recommended!

I'm here right now... it's not busy but I have given up waiting for my tea and asked to take it away instead. The 3 young members of staff are disorganised and are tripping over each other. They maybe need a supervisor to get them using some sort of system between them. Also, they have little workspace to prepare drinks. Another customer just given up too and changed order to takeaway. Staff did seem very pleasant and were impeccably polite.
