Nice for a drink, probably won't eat here again. Booked for 18:30 didn't get the chance to order until 19:30. There was only one other table downstairs, but a few upstairs.

Waitress didn't really know anything about the menus and generally seemed to be indifferent about the whole experience. The food was overpriced and quite pretentious.

When the food came I had to send it back as the fries were cold. Not just "not very warm" but cold. The manager rectified it quickly which is great. Rest of the food was OK, bit under seasoned. The burger itself was cooked well however, pink and juicy. Just didn't taste of whole lot. Our friends seemed to enjoy their meals which is great.

Any of the above issues is forgivable, and I don't mind paying for good food and service but when they all come at once: Expensive, slow indifferent service, average food, food sent back, it makes for a poor overall experience.

As a final moan, one thing that really annoys me is sitting with empty glasses. Despite staff coming to, and walking past the table. It's such an easy win for the business to increase the average spend but due to indifferent service this didn't happen and at no point was another...

We had a lovely experience at Claytons. The Terrace was open for drinks and im assuming that it gets hot in the Glasshouse so they did leave the doors open which gave you a mixture of two musics and a few drunk dancers which wasn't too bad but a bit off putting in the beginning when you're stone sober. Service was lovely. Everybody was working really hard and well together. It was a fast-paced, fun yet relaxed atmosphere and we did enjoy the slightly Ibiza-esque feel which made you feel like you were on holiday. The food was good. I had a fantastic lamb dish which had a great array of colour, texture and flavour. Beautifully presented and my partner felt the same about the lamb loin. My starter, the confit of duck was underwhelming. Flavour combinations were off and didn't quite appetise me based off of presentation. My partner loved the mushroom soup. The cocktails were well priced between 10-12 pounds. Mixed well and loved the table service drinks in Terrace which really felt like you could relax and let go. Overall, very enjoyable and a great evening...

Over all, Kind of under welming.

Wait staff was great (just one or two servers) very fast paced rushing around. Very professional.

The food I had a chicken and bacon linguine that cost £12.50 was absolutely delicious. But the price point should have been around £10 or £11.

The dessert is where I had a HUGE issue. Im not sure why so many resturants lately are lacking in their desserts? But I ordered some form of Ice cream, which was described as 4 scoops of different flavoured Ice cream. The price point was £7.50 so naturally I expected a giant kind of sundae.. Oh no. What I received for the price of £7.50 were 4 TINY scoops of Ice cream I a bowl.. That's it, a few berries and a dusting of luke, flour? What sick people price pointed this dissapointment of a dessert.

Finally, looked at the drinks menu.. they do peach daiquaires but not strawberry ones? Why?

Over all pretty over priced and standard, a standard satisfaction but I wouldn't jump for joy if...

I was amazed I haven't reviewed Clayton's yet despite being here so many times before over the years, but today's visit was not the last! Delicious food, wife had salmon fishcakes followed by the venison while I had chicken liver parfait followed by their signature pork burger, which was a fusion of complementary flavours! Only took one pic of my starter as I was so sure I'd reviewed here before. Eat here! It's delicious and the staff are very professional, the interior is very pleasant and upmarket without being too much. And of course the food is well priced as well as being top notch!

We went to Clayton s and the Glasshouse restaurant in Barnstaple yesterday evening it was a lovely well appointed classy establishment.the customer service was second to none very professional friendly and attentive.i Had a calprese salad to start which was full of flavour and a light starter.I had roast pork loin as my main which was served with a potato cake black pudding with mange tout and carrots and celeriac in an apple jous and i have to say this is probably the best meal i have ever had .Extremely impressed and will definitely be visiting again and recommending to everyone.
