Wimpy — Restaurant in North Devon

The service was slow. We were put at the back of the restaurant and forgotten about. It took a while to get our main course, it wasn't busy. Nobody cleared the table, a lot of the staff were idle and chatting at the front of the store. One staff member cleared the tables around us, looked me straight in the eye and walked off. We had to get a member of staff to come and take our dessert order. We waited over 20 mins and still no dessert. The place was near empty, we were simply forgotten about. In the end we gave up and went to pay for the food we did receive; ironically the desserts were then ready. The server who was going to bring us our desserts was rude and scoffed because we had already given up waiting at that point. Me and the wife popped in for lunch as we've both never experienced a wimpy. 1st impressions of the restaurant were clean and tidy and ample amounts of seating available. Tables were clean, no mess on the floors or under the tables or on the seats. Waitresses are all happy and friendly and we're ready available if you needed them. They took our order and nothing was too much hassle for them. Kitchen staff worked like clock work watching them was an art, and when the dishes where served the waitresses came and took them straight away so there were not a chance for them to sit under the heat lamps waiting to be served. Food came freshly cooked and was piping hot and delicious. The portion sizes are not to be sniffed at for the prices you pay. Would definitely recommend coming here for a bite to eat if you are...

Absolutely outstanding service! The staff were fantastic throughout our visit and a special mention to Hannah as she was sat eating her lunch but spoken to me and my family about Barnstable and the recommended beaches to visit! We travelled from The West Midlands for the weekend and stopped off for some food which was absolutely amazing! The staff were all so accommodating & the food was absolutely fantastic.. I wish we had one of these restaurants by us!

My daughter who has just turned one was also treated amazing whilst we stayed! We walked away with a massive smile on our faces and when we do make another visit to Devon for the weekend we will be 100% coming back.
