Came here on recommendation of my brother who had visited twice earlier in the year.

The restaurant is a traditional Italian restaurant (I think it's family run). Booking is definitely recommended as the place was packed within half an hour of opening in the evening! The staff were all really friendly, polite and attentive, and the main thing is they wanted us, their customer, to have a good time, eating good food.

We ordered a couple of garlic & cheese pizza breads for starters and they were excellent. Nice crispy bases with plenty of garlic and cheese on top! For mains, the kids shared two Margherita pizzas which again were really good and quite large. I had the Penne al Tegamino (see picture), my wife had the Filetto do Salmone, and my mum had the Tagliatelle Della Casa. All of the meals were of generous portions, but most importantly they were really tasty. The desserts were also fairly large. The kids ice creams were a good size, and the Cannoli Siciliana were excellent.

I really couldn't fault this restaurant which is run by really nice people. Very good food, really good value for money, and if I'm ever in Ilfracombe again I'd...

A genuinely excellent restaurant. We arrived 15 minutes early into a warm, crowded and vibrant space (always a good sign). The team were unable to seat us early so we had to cluster near the main entrance (not so good since it was freezing outside after storm Arwen!). Once seated we were well looked after by the lovely waitress and hostess, who were happy to chat, laugh and joke with our party of 5. The service was first class and the food was piping hot, tasty and well presented. It was a shame that the team have to wear masks, and there were some standing perspex barriers in place, which detracts from the experience, but those are constraints the staff have to operate under right now. The menu choice was well judged (not too overcrowded but still plenty of variety and options for both omnivores and veggies alike!). The prosecco ran freely and we were extremely well looked after (always attended to, but never rushed), and the courses served professionally, together and as ordered... I thoroughly recommend a visit to Giovanni & Luca's! Well done to the front of house team and the great food provided...

Can I be Frank.

The food is pre cooked. Not frozen but refrigerated. Hence it is not fresh was told things where prepped the day before. In all my time at Italian restaurants bearing in mind I work at a highly regarded restaurant in the West midlands where we make everything to order to a high standard, have I eaten sure a poor lasagne. The meat was clumpy and bitty and not moist and fresh. It also took 8 mins to come out - in my world that means they used Chef Mic. But either way they had ample time to prepare a fresh lasagne even if the pasta sheets where pre made which is to be expected.

Poor to be honest and for them to get so enraged and loud taking into account the restaurant was busy and I was asking for then to keep it quiet as I was just making a true statement they all came over 4 of them and contined to shout and state there food is no frozen etc.

I wouldn't reccomend personally but each to their own this was just...

A little piece of Italy in the centre of Ilfracombe! We hadn't booked a table but enquired early whilst passing, luckily there was a slot free on a table and we were warmly welcomed into this family restaurant. There was a happy buzz in the restaurant and it felt more like being welcomed into a family home for the evening as several different staff members checked on us or served us directly. The food was beautiful, tasty and with the perfect amount of sauce etc. We had a choice from the Specials Board, a lobster ravioli which was really, really special. Puddings were very good. With obviously expert and passionate chefs and the honest and enthusiastic service this restaurant is a real treat.

This restaurant was first class in both food and service. We visited twice during our stay in Ilfracombe and enjoyed both visits. The staff are welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable about the food they serve. Their menu is extensive and varied , with authentic Italian dishes. All the dishes we had were cooked perfectly and the portions a good size. Remember to leave some room for their delicious homemade desserts. The restaurant has a warm, welcoming feel and despite being full on both our visits, it still has a relaxed atmosphere. Booking is highly recommended, as this restaurant is often full in advance for the entire evening.
