Ordered through Just Eat….Food was half an hour late,so I decided to find out where it was. I explained it hadn’t been delivered and I was spoken to by some really rude aggressive lady, saying that they had tried to deliver it.I explained to her that it must have been to the wrong address as there are five of us here all hungry listening for the door. She tried to say I was lying and that she believed the driver had tried to deliver the food and he had rung the bell etc etc. However there is no bell at the property so who’s lying.I heard someone else moaningin the background again very rude and unprofessional I believe she was commenting on my autistic disabled daughter, and I was then put on to a obnoxious delivery driver who had no clue where he had actually tried to deliver to.He tried to tell me that I was living in a different building clearly he went to the wrong building but wouldn’t admit as everything he said was not true.I was told my food would be then delivered again by the rude woman and again I waited 20/30 mins before again phoning up.I got no response from the phone so decided to drive down and get it to find that they had closed. It was clear that they had no intention of re delivering at all, however they have tried to scam me through just eat by saying it was delivered. It was my autistic daughters 18th birthday meal and it was ruined by lazy and rude people who can do there jobs properly,This company clearly has no idea of customer service and I would recommend avoiding them.My daughter was really upset by this and I had to drive to the nearest McDonald’s over half an hour away to get her something else she likes. Looking at there other reviews it is clear that there attitude and food is not the greatest anyway so maybe I have had a lucky escape but if there food is anything like there attitudes and customer service then it’s going to be poor.I can only say to anyone ordering through just eat to avoid this restaurant at all cost because you either get poor food,no food or a bad attitude. This is not the way to run a small businesss and I hope that others read this review and avoid you...
Read moreWe visited here on holiday this week. We took a seat in the ‘restaurant’ area which was an out dated seating area but sometimes these places are the best. We took a look at the menu a bit pricey but the smell of the fish and chips wafting down the street was delish so we didn’t mind. We took our drinks from the fridge and went to order our food at an area connecting to the fish and chip bar next door. I was served by an Middle Aged lady with black frizzy hair who snatched the drinks off me and said how have you got in there?? Well the door was open along with the open sign showing, lights on so why would I think it was closed? She went on to say there’s nobody in there to serve you, I said I didn’t mind grabbing the food if she’d just give me a shout when it was ready? (2 adults 1 child) She said she couldn’t do that her boss would kill her so “I’ll just have to come round won’t I” considering there were 3 members of staff in the shop (who were cringing about what she was saying) and 0 customers I didn’t think it would have been a problem, but it obviously was. I did try and say we didn’t mind sitting on our own and if we needed anything I’d just ask, I was shot down. At that point we decided to eat somewhere else! Luckily a 20 second walk away there is a weather spoons that serve beautiful food at half the price, clean up to date decor and friendly staff. If I could give this place 0 stars I would, it’s a shame we couldn’t try the food but the woman’s attitude was terrible & made us feel massively uncomfortable. Looking at the reviews it seems I’m not the only one who think staffing...
Read moreMy wife and I, being regular visitors to Ilfracombe, have been to Maddy's quite a few times and though I wouldn't have said they were the worst fish and chip shop I'd ever been to they were far from being the worst. Friday afternoon changed that and so began Maddy's certain slide down the chippy league table as far as we are concerned. First, upon entering the shop and smiling at the woman who looked up at me on entry, I was ignored for at least a couple of minutes. I whispered to my wife that perhaps we should go somewhere where we weren't invisible, but I was urged to wait, which I did for a seemingly interminable time. And then we were served cold, hard, chewy scrag ends that we couldn't stomach and the local seagull population struggled with - £4 a bag, to add insult to injury! I will visit Maddy's again, but it will take a change of management and reconsideration of their prices. And I wouldn't mind paying the prices they ask if they were to sell something...
