The Brew House Coffee Shop — Restaurant in North Devon

Felt like I was an inconvenience. Not the first time I have felt like this. I forgave and went back nonetheless. The tall young chap this time caused me to do an eventual u-turn and exit. I felt the savoury menu was limited…Panini, jacket or pasty. I was told no written menu was available; what you see is what is available. I asked if they did jacket potatoes. He pointed to a hot glass cabinet which I felt guilty for having missed. There, 2 remaining jacket potatoes were being kept warm but frankly looked close to death. I felt like buying them anyway so that I could give them a dignified burial. To find what the jacket potato fillings were, proved interesting. I could see no board menu at eye level. I felt I’d better not ask the already frustrated member of staff. Then a lady pointed down by my legs !!! Yes , there in front of my knees were the fillings listed on a chalk board. I had 4 to choose from. I frankly wasn’t inspired by the limited beans, tuna or cheese. I left. I went round the corner instead to the Boutport Cafe where I was greeted with a smile and had a very much better culinary experience. Honestly this place was awful, my friend ordered the garlic chicken panini which she paid quite alot for. When it came there was one peice of chicken, she told the staff to which the staff binned the existing panini with no apology what so ever. I had a vegan pasty as it was the only thing I could have in there that didn't contain dairy the filling was mostly tomato puree. After the food and service I will not be coming in here again especially because the prices of their items are too high to be that...

It’s a nice coffee shop and the staff are perfectly friendly, but I have to say i wasn’t impressed with the flat white here.

For starters it’s served in a cup too large for a flat white, so the milk over dilutes the coffee and it doesn’t have the strength a flat white should. The milk was over steamed, which was evident from the drink being scalding hot and the milk losing its sweetness.
