We came here for a meal on our holiday. We pre booked the table and we had plenty of options of times and the woman who answered the phone was very pleasant.

When we arrived we were showed our table. It was very quiet to begin with and busied up a little as the evening went on. Initially after our drinks order was taken, the drinks arrived promptly. We ordered our food and one of our party asked for another drink and this was added to the order.

The drink ordered with the food did not turn up as quickly as the first round and unfortunately we had to prompt where this drink was when the food arrived at the table. The order of one of the party members was delivered incorrectly and so had to be sent back (the order was for a pulled pork burger and a beef burger was bought to the table). The chips and peas were cold when the food arrived, however the burgers were all very tasty and felt homemade, as advertised on the menu. The portion sizes were good. Noone asked us how the food was and if we had everything we ordered or needed, and we did not have enough cutlery for everyone at the table so we had to try and get someone's attention to get more cutlery (and then we were given more than we needed when we only asked for one more set).

There seemed to only be two front of house members of staff, and at one point later in the evening the chefs were calling for service but the front of house staff were nowhere to be found and the chef had to call again several minutes later, at which point the staff had reappeared but we're busy taking phone calls and dealing with seating new customers before they could get the next tables food.

The chip portion sizes seemed inconsistent across the table, some having lots and others not having as many. Yes that is possibly being a bit picky but it was something that was noticed by several members of the party, so it was enough of a discrepancy to be noticed.

Overall, it was decent food, service started very well but unfortunately it was not consistently good throughout. I appreciate that during busy times things can become more difficult to keep on track of, however it was not that busy in there, probably 4-5 tables with people on. Pleasant staff when they were there. The meal was ok, but unfortunately not something to rave about or somewhere I would rush...

Absolute joke of a restaurant! I booked for a party of 4 for New years day and double checked they did a Vegan roast which they said they did. On arrival we were placed on a table that hadn't been laid and that wasn't in the main part of the restaurant so we already felt dissatisfied. They seemed very short staffed and from what I heard the staff discussing it sounded like they'd over booked and were trying to deal with the mess up. We ordered 4 vegan roasts and about 20 minutes later they bought out our food. We questioned the roasts being vegan as they had yorkshire puddings. The waiter checked and came back to say they weren't vegan. 2 of our party carried on and ate their meals as they were vegetarian so they were fine to eat. An older grey haired women, who i think is the manager, came out from the kitchen and said 'the tickets said vegetarian and that's why we have given you vegetarian meals' . She said it like it was my fault. We had clearly asked for vegan when we ordered. I found her tone rude and abrupt! Myself and my husband then waited another 20 minutes for them to bring out another 2 meals that yet again they had messed up as they weren't vegan. By this point our another 2 party members had finished their meals and we still were waiting. I complained to the waitress and said we would not be paying for the 2 meals that our guests had had and that we would be leaving. The older grey haired women sent out a young man from the kitchen to apologise and we didn't see her again! Never again will we set foot in this pub/restaurant! They totaĺly ruined our...

As a family of four we were on the lookout for a family friendly bite to eat for dinner. We parked literally next door and went to visit another eatery, however, they were closed so headed back to the car park and I happened to see they had rump steak on the special menu so popped in to see if they did child portions.

They do children's portions so we stayed. What a lovely atmospheric place to stay of an evening. Fairy lights and ambient lighting. Purely beautiful and a place I'd love to have a date with the wife!

Friendly staff and a stunning pale ale (brewed by themselves!)

Now onto the food... Wow!

I had a rump steak medium cooked and was so melty and delicious.

My wife had the chilli loaded nachos starter which she said was amazing and just what she wanted.

The kids had macaroni cheese which was clearly home cooked and lovely (the bowls come out piping hot, so if you have young wandering fingers, maybe ask for the dish to be served in a cold bowl?)

The total bill came to under £40, I was amazed and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening out.

P.s. they have kids toys and board games to play too.

Well done to this restaurant and bar, you've done...

We have eaten twice here this week and honestly the food is fab. We had the Cod best cod ever. The Butterfly Chicken was very nice and the Gammon really good. Nice portion sizes and good prices. Can't fault it. The staff fab esp Kelly the Landlady she went above and beyond to make sure my Grandson was accommodated to making him a lovely hot chocolate with a straw 😆 and cucumber on his child sausage meal which was just right size for him. Nothing seemed to much trouble and we really enjoyed our evenings here. I like the fact you can take dogs in and little kids play area. Been coming Ilfracombe for 50 years for holidays and this would be my go to place to eat without a shadow of a doubt. Thank you all xx

Stopped here yesterday for a drink in the sunshine & decided to have lunch as the food being brought out looked nice. We got a drink & sat out on the raised seating area overlooking the sea which is brilliant. We ordered 4 fish & chips which looked lovely when brought out, but we were very disappointed as the fish was tasteless & mushy when cut open. It was obviously frozen fish, not fresh which we found strange being where it was situated, along with 12 chips at £15 we thought could of been alot better. Service, staff, drinks & views brilliant, but on our experience food very disappointing.

Stopped here after seeing the signs outside advertising the local Wizard Brewery, only to find none of their brews available nor were there any craft ales (perhaps understandable as this was at the end of the February half term). I settled for a Weston's, bag in a box, Old Rosie cloudy cider and chilli bean nacho's (the guacamole was excellent) others in my party had sandwiches. The staff were friendly and the food was well presented, the pub could do with some redecoration as it looks tired. A useful lunch stop on the quay next door to the aquarium and the Damien Hurst Verity sculpture.
