Walking in you can smell the fresh fish and delicious food tingles your taste buds just from the smell. Instantly greeted by a friendly member of staff, and showed to our table. Within 39 seconds 3x glasses with a bottle of fresh water was brought to the table. Menus and specials given to each person no need to share. Staff outlined a dish that they did not have on today and any questions I had where answered. The starter of cockles came with chilli vinegar and chilli salt which was brilliant and had a perfect texture and taste with a nice crunch. My main of Cromer crab burger was amazing so filling so tasty and so yummy with the fresh guacamole and cucumber. The burger fell apart it was cooked perfectly. I would say the bun would benefit from a little more toasting. To finish the service off a visited the bathroom to check standards they had been checked regularly and very very clean the ladies also to a very high standard (my girlfriend visited not me 😂) As we left all the staff said goodbye and followed us to the door with a smile and a wave we made our way down the pier. View: 10/10 (pier, sea, town) Food:10/10 Customer service: 9/10 (would be 10 but double checked on our order nothing bad) Cleanliness: 10/10 (very well maintained all tables cleared as soon as people left and wiped down) Location:6/10 (I went to the upstairs restaurant hard to find the entrance)

After seeing No1 Fish and chips in the news last week and being recomended it I decided to make the trip today. The vibe inside is very nice, and you can look over the ocean which is lovely on a nice day. The menu is a typical fish and chip menu with all the expected items on it. My Partner and I ordered Haddock and chips each, a salad, mushy peas, curry sauce and drinks. The fish and chips was decent. For £18 though I was expecting it to be game changing. However it was just decent fish and chips, like most chip shops around that area. The salad was very good and had a good edge to it. Mushy peas and curry sauce were decent. The BIGGEST dissapointment was after paying £18 for fish and chips, you would want Heinz original ketchup. They have perfected the ketchup, just having anything inferior is just a non -negotiable. What we were served was not Heinz orginal. It could have been the reduced sugar one, I'm not sure, but it definetly let the meal down for that price point being a cheaper product. Overall, If you are going out and want a nice view, and don't like ketchup and don't mind spending the premium amount then it is decent.

Hmm where do I start.. So, I've been twice this year. The first time I went in July I took my other half and could not fault it. It was a 10/10. The portion size was BIG, plenty of chips and the fish size was also BIG! Batter was perfection and the sides were great. The fish we had was the Haddock and their Catch of the Day which was Lemon Sole.

We loved the experience so much that we made a promise to ourselves to come again and we live around 50miles away.

So then the much anticipated 2nd visit, we really were not expecting anything less than the first experience.. but oh dear.. it could not have turned out any more opposite to the first time. What's happened?! We ordered the same again, Haddock and Lemon Sole but why has the portion size got so much smaller?! Both of our fish were short but worst of all it was THIN! and to top it of, the chips were soft and smaller portions size. Ok, the flavour was good but not as good as the first visit.

In fact I was so disappointed with my Haddock Size.. I had to embarrassingly mention it to the friendly staff and have a replacement, it was better but not by much.

How suddenly the mighty fall...

I always say that the key factor to a great restaurant is Consistency... We thought we had found out favourites Fish n Chips / Seafood restaurant in East Anglia.. but the search continues..

Would give it 3.5 but not going to give 4

Replying to the Owner's response: Yes we were...
