We have travelled to this restaurant ( over two hours away) just because we love the food so much… we took our elderly mum yesterday and made sure to book a table to avoid having to wait. It was not a busy time. Only about five table filled upstairs around 4 pm. A large amount ( 5-6) of very young waiting staff hovered around the bar chatting during most of our visit. We had to ask for the correct menus. We could have seperate cheques… we Waited so long to get our drink order taken that we asked to put our food order in at same time. We were told no. It then took another 10-15 minutes to get s drinks. Our food order could have easily been put in before drinks were made. We were the ones with nearly a 2.5 hr drive home. We couldn’t get anyone’s attention during our meal. No one came to check on us. When we asked for the bill; it took ages. Again they stood around talking and laughing while we waited. It was dire.. over £120 spent and a specific trip there to be nice for mum. Asked to speak to a manager to be told she was on the phone with “ big boss owner “ due to problems…

Perhaps the problem was she was on the phone not knowing her staff didn’t know how to do their jobs?!?

Really want...

We visited No1 Cromer and were absolutely delighted! The atmosphere is cozy and relaxed, with lovely views and attentive service.

🍽️ Main Courses: We ordered a variety of dishes — from the classic fish & chips to a beautifully cooked fillet of fish with sauce and vegetables. Everything was perfectly prepared: the fish was incredibly fresh, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The sides were tasty and well presented. We especially loved the fun touch of serving the chips in a bright bucket with a little shovel — such a charming detail!

🍷 Desserts: For dessert, we had the chocolate fondant, brownie with vanilla ice cream, and a light berry dessert with meringue. Each one was a treat! The fondant was perfectly baked with a rich molten center, and the brownie was soft and indulgent.

🥂 A special mention goes to the excellent wine and cocktails — they paired beautifully with the meal.

We visited on Saturday 18th May in the evening. The evening was lovely, staff attentive, wine delicious. The serious issue came when the only vegetarian option on the menu (Halloumi burger) came out and the bottom bun was covered in fish.

They did change immediately and did offer a drink whilst I waited, and I said not right now thanks as have a full glass of wine at the moment. When it came back out it was obvious it was freshly done. And was delicious.

The worst thing, when asked about allergies my husband had said no, but he (me) is veggie. The waitress laughed (in a polite way) and said not an allergy. Then this happened.

Cross contamination should never occur and if it does cleaned down immediately.

We were surprised when the bill came to see everything on it (Inc the extra drinks we ordered when we finished our first).

No further apology from the staff were offered.

It would have been 5 across the board but serving your only vegetarian dish with fish...

Just had a delicious lunch at Upstairs @ No1 Cromer. Exceptional service and outstanding food. The Maldon oysters were really fresh and creamy and the shallot gel was lovely. The seafood platter was on another level. I’m not a big fan of cockles, but the cockle popcorn was delicious, crispy and moreish. The scotch egg with an oozing yolk was just delicious, large prawn tempura with nigella seeds in the batter were crispy and succulent, perfectly cooked lobster that had been gently decanted from its shell was moist and tasted like lobster! Dressed crab with not a single piece of shell, sweet prawns and smoked salmon were all just so delicious. Accompanied by crusty bread and butter with a selection of amazing sauces including a tartare with the addition of tarragon was superb. The panna cotta was also pretty amazing and I loved the touch of lavender in the meringue kisses. I just wish it wasn’t a three hour drive away! Will certainly return on my next visit to Cromer!

Me and my partner went there and had an amazing evening. I wish I could rate it 10 stars everything was top notch, could not fault a thing. All the staff were kind and informative. My partner wanted the chowder as a main and they were able to do it which was amazing! I had the muscles and they were phenomenal, perfectly cooked and the white wine sauce was spectacular! For dessert we had lavender creme brulè and one scoop of lemon sorbet and one scoop of butterscotch. Omg they were amazing! I asked how the creme brulè was made and the waitress went into the kitchen and got the full recipe for me which was great. It was one of the best nights we've ever had. We hardly had to wait long for our food at all. Well worth the money, I would 100% recommend it!
