I have just enjoyed my 10th Burns Night Supper at the Bistro! As usual, the service was impeccable - unobtrusive yet attentive. The choice of fare was varied, and the candlelit décor and background Scottish music completed the enjoyment of the event. I went for a traditional Scottish combination of a creamy smoked haddock chowder as a starter, followed by haggis, neeps, tatties and a whisky cream sauce, and finished off with Cranachan - a mouth-watering mixture or raspberries, honey, toasted oats and whisky cream - all prepared to the highest standard. The busy bookings spoke for the popularity of the event. The Bistro, now a byword for excellence in the town, combines an active daytime role, serving a wide selection of beverages and food, with frequent themed evenings, details of which are readily available online beforehand.

They even thought to include cardboard takeaway boxes for people to take home any leftovers which was a thoughtful touch. Not that there were many leftovers - the food amount was just right, enough for people to come back for seconds & thirds but not so much that any food was wasted (which it...
Read moreWe chanced upon this café whilst trying to escape the crowds after the Cromer New Year's Day fireworks. The staff were in the process of closing but were kind enough to let us in. I'm glad they did.
Our coffees, teas, homemade lemon drizzle cakes and homemade lemon, blueberry and raspberry flapjack were all really good and great value. You don't often see a large cappuccino for £3.30 and a pot of tea for £2.25 these days. The cakes were £2.50 and my flapjack was £3.25. The latter was extremely filling, moist and tasty.
All the young staff were very friendly and let us finish our drinks in peace even though it was well past closing time.
In leaving we decided to buy two homemade frozen fish pies. They were around £4.50 each I believe. Also very tasty and great value. They also do similar cottage pies.
We will certainly...
