Cosy, great food, great and quick service, reasonable pricing. My friends and I all had different dishes, and all had distinctive flavour and texture. The quantity of meat in the meat dishes was very good and of a good quality and was prepared well. Especially notable, was that the cooking was enhanced with green chillies which gives a magical flavour to Indian cuisine. This is a trick that many places miss, but it gives a very recognisable, distinct flavour and I love that they did it. Also the spicy hotness level was authentic. Not so crazy that your whole body will set on fire, but also not so weak as to detract from the enjoyment. I felt it was a normal Indian hotness. I should also mention that they had a good variety of Indian beers (including my recently new favourite; "Bengal". It was slightly less cool than I would have preferred, but it was refreshing nonetheless.
I usually dock a star for not having traditional desserts, but the exit platter which holds the bill and some chocolate mints or whatever, had fennel seeds in a crisp sugar coating; a traditional item that Indians have after a meal, to freshen the palate. Also the usual choc mints, and another nostalgia item; giant cane sugar crystals. These can be used with a hot beverage, or taken like a lozenge. I felt they were a thoughtful and enjoyable addition. I finished with a floater coffee, and this was of a reasonable standard, though it was slightly less impressive than some I've had in the locality recently.
Overall; I would say there is a little room for taking their good level, to excellent, but not enough to dock a star. A very enjoyable night out, and I would not hesitate to eat there again.
(I will add one small pet peace for me personally, though this might not be everyone's opinion... In the collection of dips that one gets with the popadoms at the start, there is nearly always a raita (yogurt with mint and cucumber, something along those lines. I really don't like it when they feel the need to add green food colouring to make it glow like a radioactive sludge.... It really does not achieve anything positive. Please leave raita a natural white with green...
Read moreMy first curry at the Rajrani on Friday night and also my first one in Coleshill. The obvious thing you'll notice is how small it is, cosy is a bit of an understatement. You could literally rub shoulders with the table next to you. I am therefore thinking that this could potentially be a problem at times but fortunately it wasn't on our visit. The menu is quite comprehensive with a few dishes that you wouldn't usually find in your typical Bangladeshi restaurant. I suggest some will need further explanation from your waiter. The service was prompt, pleasant and attentive. They will add service charge to the bill but this should be taken off if you have any issues. The three of us had a variety of dishes, together with a few sides and all was excellent. My only suggestion would be to cut down (literally) the size and the amount of chicken in the meals, it's just my preference but I am sure others would differ. I am not sure if they do desserts but sadly they had no kulfi which was a disappointment for the wife. Cost wise it is not cheap but as we enjoyed our visit we felt it was worth it. So much so that 6 months later we had a family get together in the basement. 14 of us on 4 tables in alcoves wasn't an ideal layout but it worked for us. The staff did a great job in serving us all nearly at the same time, and the food was hot. Everyone was more than happy with...

We visited this restaurant after reading the great reviews on Tripadvisor - what a horrible experience. We had booked earlier so didn't think there would be any issues but when we went in, there was a bit of a confusion as they didn't know where to sit us. Luckily there was a table ready. We barely sat down when the pappadoms arrived ! The waiter came to ask for our orders and was trying to decide for us instead of asking what we wanted - this i think was to speed up the process as it was turning out to be a busy night for them. The starters came quickly, average I would say, nothing to write home about ! The mains were either poor or average, my husband's 'chicken and lamb mushroom curry' was like soup . It was difficult to catch any of the waiter's attention. No one came to ask if the meal was ok. If you were local or regulars, the waiters were attentive but not to us, who were new. The bill arrived before we asked for it !!! No please or thank you, just left at the table. The meal wasn't cheap either, expensive for Midlands curry standards ! We paid and left. Never again. I wouldnt eat here if you paid...
