Saturday afternoon, 24 February. My son wanted to eat here for his birthday because he loves the Mexican pizza (we've had it here before).
We were seated easily, no wait, and placed our order majoring on pizza. Our drinks order was taken and delivered. We were sipping away at our drinks when the waiter informed us that there was no dough for pizza. While wondering what to do the starter to share arrived. Hold on. We were thinking of paying for the drinks and moving to somewhere where we can get what we actually want (pizza). Then I suggested that they don't charge for the ONE starter they brought to us and we would place new orders for the 5 of us. That seemed to be ok so we tucked into our shared starter.
This one star review is not for the food. It's not for the waiting staff who were very pleasant and friendly. It's not for the lovely decor that makes it a nice dining experience. It's only for the member of staff in the blue check shirt who lifted our starter plate and seemed to take pleasure in telling us that it would remain on our bill because 'it wasn't their fault' they hadn't the ingredients to make pizza. I tried to explain how disappointed we felt that we couldn't have what we wanted to eat, and felt trapped because we started drinks, but she became very argumentative and unpleasant with us. I felt under pressure to accept what had happened for the sake of my family's outing. I've never been spoken to like that in a restaurant before.
If that's their front of house management then it's a pity because we've been there a few other times and we know that the food is good when they have the ingredients to make it. Pizzas make up quite a large part of the menu and yet dough, the main ingredient to make them, is not available Saturday afternoon???
A gesture of goodwill would have rescued this dining out experience for us (The waiting staff 4* the food 4*) instead of one person throwing her...
Read moreEd's was a 1 star ⭐️ dinner before but I thought we would try as different name on the way back from Newcastle welcoming and comfortable good start but that's were it ends. Chinese chef seems to know what he's doing on the pass but others in kitchen behind I don't think had a clue. I had meatballs for the main course was tasty lovely sauce for what I could find tagliatelle pasta El dente but must have be sitting in the pass for too long dish was dry and couldn't see the sauce even though I could taste it garlic sour dough bread that came with it was like plywood so chewy.
Paid 12-13£ for goujons for the daughter and wife and they were nasty local chip shop does better goujons rip off. At times didn't think they where cooked and the chicken was like a rock in some of them. They also had a pizza between them, looked the part but bland as hell the only thing that made it ateble was the pineapple salsa which was out off a tin with some spices and herbs throwing on top. Saute potatoes were tiny came in a small breakfast bowl definitely out of a freezer seen nothing like it. Son had to eat mash & beans as the sausages were a disgrace they looked a 100 years old never saw a sausages like it I'd rather eat frozen or tinned sausages than what they were serving they look cremated and a odd colour.
The reason the restaurant isn't getting 0 stars is because the desserts were a strong 2 star on there own I had the mother's day Victoria sponge even though the sponge was tough like it was put in the fridge was nice and looked the part daughter had sticky toffee pudding which she loved. If I compared this to Urban Fire 🔥 this would be closed down not in the same ball park I...
Read moreWe have been coming to this restaurant for some time & every time we go it blows our mind... Everything is just perfect.
The staff are amazing, chatty & knowledgeable.
The atmosphere is wonderful, the music isn't overly loud that you can't have a conversation, & the place is clean.
Now onto the food... The menu is massive & everything sounds amazing.
Words cannot possibly describe the gustatory delights that beckon from this place of wonder & delight & I am not exaggerating...
The nachos are to die for, & wholly recommended, don't you dare skip this at your peril.
The burgers... You have Michaelangelo (The renaissance great, not the turtle, although that would it make it even more impressive tbh, but anyway, I digress...), you have Da Vinci, you have Botticelli, Caravaggio, Dali, Picasso, Bob Ross... But not one of them even compares to the absolute work of art that goes into the burgers... Each bite was just as good as the next, & every time I go they remain true to the burger form... Juicy, delicious & big!
You won't be...
