Causeway Sport & Leisure Club ended their St Patrick's Day 2025 walk, with dining at Coast in Holywood. 18 folks, tired, hungry, thirsty and pressed for time to catch a train from one part of Northern Ireland's beautiful coast, back to another part of of our stunning coastline - 'Coast' was spotless, and welcomed us with open arms, a large table in the upstairs lounge to ourselves, accommodating us all together, water jugs placed already, and because we had advised them of our orders in advance, on arrival, service was 'ready-to-go' - from Clive, to his efficient wife Jackie, to all the table staff, our experience was second to none with no unnecessary fussing, each of whom simply couldn't do enough for us, and always with our best interests at the forefront of their collective considerations - effective, efficient, attentive, and supportive, but never obtrusive - this is a fabulous holistic experience, so much better than in other places, on another part of our coastline, where 'it's all about getting the maximum amount of money from a customer, for the minimum amount of product and effort' - other places could and would do well, to learn about customer care, and value for money, from this restaurant! The food - delicious and plentiful, the service - second to none, the atmosphere - relaxing and effective, any small issue - dealt with immediately if not sooner, every dish - mouth-watering, and overall, tremendous value for money! You must check-out this fine restaurant if you haven't done so already, those who know it, know how good it is, those who don't, … well they don't know what they are missing! Hopefully some of my colleagues will post a nice picture of our experience! We will visit again - Mervyn, for Causeway Sport & Leisure...
Read moreWe did not have a great meal here. The food was okay, but the service was a bit disappointing. We had three different servers and there was miscommunication about when we ordered (servers kept coming to ask if we had ordered). The waiter spilled wine on one of the guests at our table and brought back a larger glass as a replacement (which we were charged for, despite ordering a smaller glass). Whilst a wine spill happens from time to time and the stain did come out of the clothing, there seemed to have been more miscommunication amongst the staff afterwards. They brought a new Guinness Zero for us as some of the wine spilled into the old one. After about 10 minutes, yet a different waitress came back to say that it had actually been a Guinness and not a Guinness Zero. This is obviously a very big error, especially as this was served to the designated driver. We only received 10% off the meal and we did not stay for the dessert. The restaurant was clean and there was an extensive menu however the music was a bit abrasive and...
Read moreI have been many, many times before and have been a great supporter of coast...hence why i gave 2 stars. However, my partner and i went for an evening meal on Sunday and had an entirely different experience. The service was rushed and we were greeted by being told they had run out of lots of things....it was 5.30pm on a Sunday evening. We ordered slow cooked beef which needed to come with a chainsaw, it was chewy and tasteless. The veg was rubbery and obviously microwaved. The champ was excellent but the roast potatoes were not roasted. Not one person ever asked how our meal was or if we needed something, not even when we were paying the bill. We have never had such poor service or disappointing food. The table mats were very dirty and i had to wipe the chair down before i could sit down. We will be giving our custom...
