5 stars all around for El Tapas Grà! We visited here over the Halloween weekend and we enjoyed every minute of our time here. The restaurant is in a great location near the centre of the town and had a wonderful atmosphere. The food was unbelievable, very tasty and very well presented. We also didn't have to wait long after our order was taken for our food to arrive. The staff here really made our day. They were extremely welcoming and very genuine. The girls really took the time to not only take our orders with genuine interest but also took time to make conversation and advise on their own personal recommendations of the food on the menu. We have been for bottomless brunch in a few places in town but El Tapas Grà definitely holds an edge over the rest. Highly recommend and we look forward to our next visit! 🥂☺️😊🎉🎊

Really disappointing visit for lunch. We visited for lunch and ordered the hummus, chorizo bon bons, bao buns, quesadillas and Mac and cheese. The only thing that was really good was the hummus - thoroughly enjoyed. Really gorgeous. However - The Mac and cheese was extremely bland and swimming in oil. The bao buns were okay at best, also lacking in flavour, however the bun itself was light. The quesadilla was also a bit bland - onion being the only key flavour. I didn't have the bon bons but my dining partner enjoyed them. Really disappointed, it was our first time here, and we had heard glowing reviews. Plus at the maratime festival, we enjoyed a birria taco from their food stand - unfortunately not on the menu, as it was delicious.

It would have been 5 stars...but for a couple of minor details. Firstly, the seating...we were seated as a table of two right beside the entrance door, just about a table and no more. We did request to be moved but we were foiled by an inbound party of six and the server said that he may need to push tables together. Secondly, the food..generally refreshing change for Derry...not the usual Derry fayre with tobacco onions and pepper sauce but nicely presented tidbits! Your pil pil prawns however were overcooked, shame really because the rest was great....Great food to accompany some drinks. The toilets upstairs were a bit odd and may present a challenge for disabled diners and a check on handsoap would be very useful during the current covid situation. All in all, these are minor niggles and can be improved upon. We will be back though as the young server was polite and generally attentive.

Update!!! So, we went to book back with El Tapas Gra...and were met with 10 pounds per head booking fee. Sorry, and I understand that you are an independent restaurant but holding a gun to the head of your patrons for a policy that seems out of place for Derry is a little too much for me. It has put me right off and I have adjusted my review...

A lively, lovely restaurant great atmosphere and very welcoming! I have walking difficulties & get very self conscious that I am a problem & am totally embarrassed as I don't like to make a fuss! But the server's were very nice and helped us through the menu! David who we found out was from Majorca Santa Ponsa was extremely professional but when we chatted to him in our limited Spanish he was our friend! Lovely young gentleman!! The white sangria was amazing as was all the food!! Only criticism was one of the younger girl's was just to quick to lift dishes off our table which were not actually finished!! I did say but she had piled them on top of one another so my Husband just gave me a look!! Nice girl but just a bit eager to clear our table which made us feel OK let's go back to the hotel!! We have a Daughter the same age who has a job but now a day's you can't say anything to them as they don't take criticism very well?? A totally different generation!! But yes I would strongly recommend this restaurant and hope we will be back very soon!! David, have a fantastic time with your family!! Big hugs Claire & Robin...

So disappointed with the service. We are a group of office colleagues who have been here a few times without problem and enjoyed the foods. But this time when booking the reservation it asked for credit card, so I booked it with my private credit card. We arrived and enjoyed the meals, albeit the head waiter was a bit rude and arrogant. Nothing or nobody told me that my private credit card will be charged for the deposit. So when the bill is produced the total amount have been reduced with the deposit to my private card, we asked nicely if this can be refunded because we want to pay the full amount with the company credit card. We were told no that they can’t or won’t do that. They just don’t want to know and refused to try to rectify the situation, so we paid the reduced bill at the end, and i was promised that they will send me the copy of the bill by email, and there is nothing so far. We...
