Wonderful ice cream, lovely staff. Joe and I go way back. 1989 infact. Born and raised on the rough streets of Perugia, Italy Joe and I formed a special bond at the local Gelateria. It was a strange time, back then you had a Gelateria on every corner and Mafia involvement made competition fierce and often violent. The strangeness was in the Mafias requirments that locals would attend their Gelateria at least daily - sometimes multiple times if you were looking to score points with them or if you where indebted. No child could be seen on the street without a cone. Non compliance would mean strict punishment and usually someone would be made an example of. Without ice cream about your person you where in serious trouble should the Mafia catch you. Joe, like all other boys, obsessed over ice cream and flavours and desperately wanted to get involved. He wanted to be a powerful Ice Cream Don like Don Mattheo Zumba (RIP) but also a creative Don like Don Cecchini - rumoured he salted his caramel with the tears of his enemies. But it wasnt meant to be. Word had spread of a city in Northern Ireland that needed ice cream. The local Ice Cream sellers were selling mediocre flavours on soggy cones. Joe, a man of action even at the young age of 13, knew then this was his calling. He would escape the violence of Perugias Ice Cream Mafia and bring Gelato to the peaceful city of Derry. He would provide them with sturdy malty cones, colourful sprinkles, glorious sauces and sometimes crepes. He paid a man to deliver him to Martello Tower (as far as his money would take him) and then walked the rest of the distance to Derry. After years of washing glasses in George's Bar he saved enough money to buy a cart. The cart became a stall and the stall became a shop, and here we are today. Its an amazing story and I know he's recently sold the rights of it to Columbia Studios in the states. They say it'll be Goodfellas meets Kindergarten Cop meets Ben & Jerrys (Americans....). I wont watch it. I lived it.

A very big thank you to Joe!!! My wife has been talking about pear ice cream since we met. She read about it in a French book and of course you cannot get it anywhere. I wrote to Joe asking if she could make this for me on time for my wife's birthday. Viola.... it was very well received. Massive thank you! The pear ice cream is absolutely delicious!!!

The very first stop of our 2024 International Homemade Ice Cream review tour. World, the bar has been set high this year. Joe Jacksons did not disappoint, nice and creamy and full of flavor. We'll be back. (Definitely tomorrow)

Awful experience today in your store!! Ordered my niece birthday cake on the 6th august for collection today the 24th august, cake was paid for! Upon collection was told there was no cake as person who took the booking didnt pass it on! Try telling this to a child who was excited telling her friends and family about an ice cream cake she was getting for her party!! The owner felt a tub of ice cream was a suitable form of compensation!! You have ruined my niece’s birthday and left her very upset and embarrassed having to explain there is no ice cream cake at her party!! I will be letting other customers know about my experience on all social media platforms about the appalling service i received from...

Joe Jackson's Ice Cream Parlor in Derry is a delightful spot for a treat! We stopped by with the kids, and they were instantly charmed by the colorful decor and friendly atmosphere. The flavors are fun and fresh, with classic options like chocolate and vanilla alongside creative picks like honeycomb crunch and berry sorbet.

Our kids couldn't get enough - they're already asking to go back! The staff was warm and welcoming, adding a personal touch to the experience. A perfect stop for families looking for sweet moment or even...
