Wonderful ice cream, lovely staff. Joe and I go way back. 1989 infact. Born and raised on the rough streets of Perugia, Italy Joe and I formed a special bond at the local Gelateria. It was a strange time, back then you had a Gelateria on every corner and Mafia involvement made competition fierce and often violent. The strangeness was in the Mafias requirments that locals would attend their Gelateria at least daily - sometimes multiple times if you were looking to score points with them or if you where indebted. No child could be seen on the street without a cone. Non compliance would mean strict punishment and usually someone would be made an example of. Without ice cream about your person you where in serious trouble should the Mafia catch you. Joe, like all other boys, obsessed over ice cream and flavours and desperately wanted to get involved. He wanted to be a powerful Ice Cream Don like Don Mattheo Zumba (RIP) but also a creative Don like Don Cecchini - rumoured he salted his caramel with the tears of his enemies. But it wasnt meant to be. Word had spread of a city in Northern Ireland that needed ice cream. The local Ice Cream sellers were selling mediocre flavours on soggy cones. Joe, a man of action even at the young age of 13, knew then this was his calling. He would escape the violence of Perugias Ice Cream Mafia and bring Gelato to the peaceful city of Derry. He would provide them with sturdy malty cones, colourful sprinkles, glorious sauces and sometimes crepes. He paid a man to deliver him to Martello Tower (as far as his money would take him) and then walked the rest of the distance to Derry. After years of washing glasses in George's Bar he saved enough money to buy a cart. The cart became a stall and the stall became a shop, and here we are today. Its an amazing story and I know he's recently sold the rights of it to Columbia Studios in the states. They say it'll be Goodfellas meets Kindergarten Cop meets Ben & Jerrys (Americans....). I wont watch...

The owner felt a tub of ice cream was a suitable form of compensation!! You have ruined my niece’s birthday and left her very upset and embarrassed having to explain there is no ice cream cake at her party!! I will be letting other customers know about my experience on all social media platforms about the appalling service i received from...
