Nando's Derry — Restaurant in Northern Ireland

Me and my girlfriend decided to go for a nandos on Saturday night. When we arrived is was very quiet with loads of free tables. We sat down decided what we wanted and when up to order. I ordered first and then my girlfriend ordered after. I ordered a sunset burger and she ordered the chicken fino pita pocket. When the food arrived at the table it was 2 chicken fino pittas. I informed them straight away that it was the wrong food and they took it back. My girlfriend then observed the kitchen staff lift the meat out of the burger and put it back on the grill bare handed no gloves. Disgusting. I was then brought back down my plate with just chips and mac and cheese and told my burger would be out after. When my burger arrived it was wrong again. I then went to the till for a refund as I just wanted to leave at this stage and get food else where. They told me that it must have been a miscommunication and they had though I ordered the same as my gf. But I had ordered first so that was a lie. I was then just refunded the price of the burger when really I should have been refunded the price of the full meal as we had went out to eat together and they left my girlfriend eating alone and me with a couple of sides. Absolute joke. They kept trying to shift the blame that we ordered the same thing despite me having ordered first. It would have made more sense if they had of brought my girlfriend the wrong meal as I ordered first. They kept saying that it was a miscommunication between us and the staff. WRONG. I know what I ordered I'm not stupid I run a business myself. The staff at this nandos are a disgrace. The way they handled this situation from taking the order to lifting the food bare handed not accepting they had the order wrong when confronted and then trying to shift the blame onto us and tell us bare faced lies to try and make themselves look better. Went here with my girlfriend as it was basically the only place open to eat on a Saturday night which was weird enough.

The food was well presented and the atmosphere was very nice. It was my first time having Nando's and I had heard great things so I was excited to try it.

However, the food left me with a bad first impression. First off the chicken was burnt more than needed. Obviously with food cooked on a proper fired grill this is expected, but any time I got the flavour of the chicken, it was almost immediately washed away by the overpowering taste of that charcoal like burnt flavour.

The other thing is that Nando's is weird in the way it works. Waiting staff seat you, but they don't take your order. You have to use their app or order at the counter and they bring the food to you. But they don't provide cutlery, you have to go grab it and any sauces you might need yourself.

It just feels like Nando's doesn't know whether it wants to be a buffet or a real restaurant, the whole experience is just awkward and we weren't the only ones that thought that as multiuse guests that were seated after us were seen visibly confused when nobody came to take their order.

TL/DR: Weird awkward layout and burnt tasting food. Better off ordering domino wings as they actually...

I would like to take this time out to write a review for Nandos in Richmond Centre Derry. I went in and ordered a takeaway with my wife tonight and was greated with what i can only describe as the nicest fella with an outstanding attitude to his job and obviously is very good at what he does. I honestly have never experienced customer service like it before not only in derry but anywhere and iam very well travelled . So we walk in and this man is the general manager his name i found out is Dan. Greated us with a fantastic attitude and couldnt do enough. We placed the order where he then handed me and my wife 2 glasses and said please help yourselves to a soft drink while you wait for your order and he took the time out to build a repor with me and my wife . And we even left with a complimentary hot sauce and even sampled and discussed other hot sauces. I just think Dan is Fantastic at what he does . You definitely left lasting impression with us and look forward to calling back in soon . I believe this man has been working since 8.30am thismorning and i ordered my takeaway at 10pm. Thankyou very much Dan . Your doing an amazing job and i appreciate the great experience . Just a takeaway and i leave with this great feeling of Nandos....
