Oldest pub in Derry. Interesting fact: the bar only accepts sterling coins. Will not take euro coins ?!? Gave the bartender €10 euros (bills) for a rum and sprite (no pineapple juice or lemonade) for 6.25 € and got back £3.50 sterling pounds in coins.

Dined in the Silver Street Bar area of the River Inn. What a treat! Good food, reasonably priced. Efficient service and pleasant atmosphere all in a Covid safe environment. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Derry City centre.

I've traveled a lot in my life, been to many bars and night clubs, but have never ever seen such a disinterested and ignorant staff ! Highly unrecommended !! Totally unpleasant experience , with no care for safety of its customers.

Saturday night, there was a very drunk girl at the pub, annoying the others around by rudely pushing them to open up more space for her. This was happening in front of the 5-6 bartenders, and nobody reacted ?!

At one stage, me and my wife pulled aside from the pub to dance, just to avoid her pushing us as well. My wife left her cocktail at the pub, only to find out few minutes later that this girl was drinking it!

She complained to the bartenders about it, nobody wanted to do anything ?! Then she tried to explain to the drunk girl who just didn't want to discuss at all, at which point my wife got mad and tried to take the cocktail out of her hands.

Only then the bartenders reacted calling the security, which immediately took my wife out. She tried to explain them the whole situation as well, and one of them got back to the bartenders to ask them if it really was her cocktail. Nobody from those 5-6 staff persons confirmed that the cocktail was not belonging to the drunk girl ?!?

At the end, we left the place and decided to never...

This review is nearly two years too late, and I apologize for it. My wife and I stayed just a night in Derry at the very tail end of our honeymoon in October 2018. It's now August of 2020 and we still remember the River Inn and our experience there that night. After a full day of driving on the opposite side of the road from what we were used to (we are from the US), and arriving into the city quite late the night before Halloween, we were in need of some comforting food. We picked the River Inn and I'm quite glad we did - some of the best food we had in our two weeks in the British Isles, with a great atmosphere, quick and friendly service, and all without breaking the bank. The only disappointment resulting from this visit was the reality setting in that we cannot become "frequent" customers. When we finally make our way back to Derry I'm sure this will be one of the first places on our...

Called into this place this afternoon looks nice enough and big inside very quiet for Saturday,, food was okay as I had starter and main 15 20 minute for starter but my main meal came more quickly,, the main issue I had was service staff seem very cheeky especially the girl that took my order all she kept saying was yeah when I was given my order staff seem more interested in having laugh than dealing with customers I don't think I will be back as there is better places in city with better staff...
