Overused oil/bitter taste in all fried food (chicken, fries, and onion)/ waste of money/ threw the family meal in the bin/ could not eat

Visited this restaurant (at Lisburn ) today's evening around 6 PM,  ordered "Family 2 Platter" which includes 8 fried chicken pieces, fries (chips), onions and dips, and added a Pepsi and a juice and paid £ 24.77 . We started eating but noticed bitterness in all fried food which are chicken, fries (chips) and onion rings. We have reported this to the guy at the till and called another guy who looks a manager and told him about the bitterness in the food and brought him some of the chicken, chips, and onion to make him try by himself. After a discussion he told me that nobody has reported this issue and the food is normal, and he offered a new chips which have the same bitterness.

We haven't had takeaway from Pepe's in a while, not quite sure why. I ordered at the counter, service was fine. We had the family platter (which had a whole chicken, some wings, spicy rice, fries and dips) and a chicken fillet burger meal. Food was ready in about 15 mins (which is to be expected as it's cooked fresh). By the time I got home, food was still piping hot. Chicken was very flavoursome and juicy. The fillet burger was massive! Really can't fault any component of the meal.

There was only one very minor grumble which is that they had some special offers running which were printed on a small inconspicuous sign on the counter, I could have saved a few quid but I didn't notice until it was too late. I will know better next time as we will...
