Visited The Cardan Bar and Grill today for lunch as a party of two. There was only one other table occupied and we were seated immediately with menus, no sooner had we sat in our seats and the waitress wanted our drinks order. The specials were recited as rehearsed very quickly. As our orders were taken we were noticeably cold and looked around to see if a window was open. After 15-20 minutes we asked if it would be possible to move to another seat as we were both very cold, which the people at the other table agreed they were too. The bar waiter offered to switch off the air conditioning which did eventually help. Food was served, a steak with chips and pepper sauce and a pizza with chips. The server returned to the table while we were still both on our first bite, asking was everything okay. If it hadn't been it was a little soon to comment, having barely tasted the food yet. I personally found my order bland and relatively tasteless. Could only eat half. A long time after we had stopped eating the server finally retuned to take the plates away. We then waited to be offered any dessert/teas or coffees. No one approached. I had to motion to the staff to catch their attention before they finally returned and asked would we like anything else. We were handed a menu with four items on and told one was unavailable. When nothing appealed we ordered a latte and a cup of tea. The server came back a few minutes later to say she could not do a latte as the milk was not frothing properly and could we take a normal coffee? We accepted and she returned yet again to say she was not happy serving us the milk at all as it didn't seem right and had possibly been left out. My friend accepted a black coffee but we were disappointed by this stage. I would not recommend or return. A nice looking bar and restaurant with an impressive menu which turned out to be a...
Read moreGood points first. The food was lovely, the decoration was cosy yet modern. It seems like a busy bar for locals and pricing is reasonable. We had been visiting lisburn and unsure of the area we Google mapped somewhere close to eat and found this bar for something light to eat before we journeyed home . We arrived at 15.50 and noted a lot of tables for 2 not for 3. Server was quick to pull a few tables together and give us our menus. We had maybe been there a minute altogether when I assume the manager came over and told us (before we were even seated) that he needed this table by 6. When we suggested moving to a different table he informed us that all table's would be needed as it gets busy . I was amazed, we felt like we had already being kicked out the door before we even had an opportunity to peruse the menu . Even the server looked shocked . We didn't know anywhere else to go so decided against better wishes to stay. It had been a long, warm day and we needed something to eat. The service was pretty slow but the bar area was very busy. The food we ordered was lovely. We ate quickly, and left as soon as possible after settling the bill agreeing that we doubt we would be back. This was just our experience as three non locals which ended up putting a bit of a damper on the end of our day. I believe if this coversation with the manager hadnt happened we would have enjoyed this place. Also slight annoying thing is no drink menu for beer or cider as the table beside us found out . Instead they read you what they have from there tablets they carry. The table expressed there annoyance at that to us. Altogether it was an okay experience, if you go watch your time if your not a local and it's...
Read moreThis is a good spot, I’m so close between a 4 and 5 stars, it’s only 4 stars for some minor things… little bits that just stop it from being 5 stars. The food was really nice, maybe my ribs could of been slightly moister, but they were really good, the portion size was good, the brownie was nice and sticky and was pretty huge with plenty of sauce… only down to 4 stars as I went through what felt like half the beer options on the menu and they had more out of stock than in stock… not specifically their fault, but they could put a sheet in the menu listing what is available to make it a bit easier. Service had little to fault, maybe when we had finished our desserts and nearly done with drinks that could have brought the bill over. Atmosphere is good, it’s a busy bar but the seated area is relatively compact, think if it was fully occupied it may be a bit cramped in places… but maybe for some people that better… I think if you’re expecting a romantic table for two it’s not the best choice out there… but if you want a decent meal and a couple of drinks it’s spot on. It’s a pub that serves food and not a restaurant with a bar area, so that’s what you need to expect. Three of us, 3 mains, 3 desserts, 6 drinks was £110… so it’s not cheap, but it’s also not way over priced in terms of...
