The Chippy — Restaurant in Northern Ireland

I got a takeaway from the chippy tonight, I definitely won't be back. Good for Maureen that she has work there so long,but it's time she retired. The exact same thing happened tonight as has on the last 2 occasions. Ordered food, Maureen proceeds to disappear behind the counter either sorting change or cleaning up,appreciate you close in an hour and a half. Meanwhile food on the pass is sitting getting cold. I had to catch the eye of the girl behind the back counter to ask if we could get our order. Some customers got ,mine wasn't ready on this occasion. I was told Maureen was away to the bathroom. I had already watched her leave front of house with a blue glove on one hand the other without. She proceeded to empty a large bin of rubbish and disappear with it. Arrived back to front of house still with the one blue glove. That only tells me one thing, I highly doubt she changed that glove. So rubbish and using the toilet, I feel sick. How absolutely disgusting, she needs to be retrained in basic food hygiene as she displays none. On taking my order i politely told Maureen that she needed to change the glove. The girl in the back cooking was so aggressive towards me with her whole attitude, I seriously felt threatened. What sort of place is this. The food was pretty average, so please don't bother. Disgusting front of house staff and what business do you know where the staff are so aggressive and plain rude to good paying customers. The owners need to urgently address these matters,as it is to the detriment of this establishment. Plenty of other decent...

Ordered food from The Chippy today (9th September). We spent just over £30. We ordered a gourmet burger, taco chip (mince meat), fish supper and a portion of goujons. The staff weren't very friendly upon arrival. Our food was cold and the chips were not great either. Asked about the gourmet burger and told "if you want to wait 20 minutes for it". We then asked about their other burgers to be told the waiting times were similar to the gourmet burger. So we stuck with the gourmet burger. The gourmet burger did not match the name. Basic burger with basic toppings, very tasteless and the cheese wasn't melted on it. The taco chip (advertised as minced meat). There was no minced meat within this. It was vegetables and sauce. Again, the chips weren't great. Worst chips I've had from a chippy. The fish looked like shop bought fish, very small, greasy batter and very dry fish. The goujons were more like chicken dippers. Now the seasoning on the goujons was lovely and the chicken was coated perfectly with this. They were not goujons and more like kids chicken dippers. We also got a taco dip on the side and it was lovely. I would not recommend this chippy at all. Over priced ans poor quality food...

Went in today for lunch and got a "2 sausage and chips" lunch deal. Got that and a BPM which came to £8.50 all in, seems very expensive for a small lunch meal.

Now the 2 sausages and chips were put in one of the small tin containers that you would get fried rice in from a chinese. Chips were all squashed down and portion very small considering the 2 sausages were in there too.

I was standing for about 5 minutes before someone took my order, thought this was a bit rough as there was nobody else in line. Two ladies after me also took some time to be served, probably just as long, if not longer than me. Food took around 20 minutes to be ready, again this seems quite a long time for some standard sausage and chips.

The food was decent enough because I ate it straight away, I imagine if you had a drive home the chips would quickly become soggy. The curry I got was completely brown and nothing like the usual curry you would expect from a chippy. Maybe just an off day there but hard to tell.

Overall experience was pretty poor to be honest. Would recommend you go around the corner to the Arcade or Rolos if you are after a quick bite to...
