Lets start with the positives firstly! The food is just breath taking, I haven't had such a delicious afternoon tea set in a very long time, all of us enjoyed it so much! My iced matcha with strawberries was absolutely amazing! The atmosphere is very different and beautiful, this old looking style is really bringing you in and makes you feel like in different place đ however... We have arrived on a very busy time, which is absolutely understandable, the girl that greeted us at the front told us that they are completely full, we asked if we can take the seat outside and she said yes not a problem, just take a seat and somebody will come and clean the table for us within 5mins or so. We have been sitting at the table for probably 10-15 mins without anybody coming and cleaning the plates after the people before us. My sister in law went inside to ask someone if they haven't forgotten about us, they came out straight away apologising and collecting the plates. Then within 5mins or so the lovely lady comes out to take our food and drinks order, we have received drinks really quickly which made us very happy. However.... We have been sitting for probably good 40mins or longer waiting on our food, watched people leaving, new people arriving, getting their food before us, but our food was nowhere seen... My sister in law felt embarrassed to go inside and ask about our food as she has been going couple times in now to ask for table to get clean and for us to get served. I kindly offered to do so. As I walked in the girl asked me if I'm okay and am I ready to pay for our bill, I said I'm afraid we still haven't received our food yet whiles we watched the people that came after us finishing their foods and leaving. She apologised for that and we received our food within 3 minutes. Whiles I understand how busy they're and there's might be an issue, but not communicating with the customers and leaving them to wait for this long is very...
Read morevisited today as I was booked in for afternoon tea at 12:30 wasn't greeted when we came in & had to go up to a member of staff to tell them we had a table booked. We were told to take a seat as we were 15 minutes early which was fine but it then got to 12:40 & no one had came over to tell us that our table was ready,I had to go up and ask and the girl simply replied 'yes you can go upstairs' no one even bothered to notify us that our table was ready making us sit down 10 minutes late not only just this but no one actually took us to our table we had to sit down and assume it was ours. After about 20 minutes a boy finally came over and took our orders, drinks were slow coming out we ordered 3 afternoon tea's and it took an hour to receive food. Once food came out the sandwich that my grandma had ordered asked for no chilli jam in it which she is highly allergic to for her sandwich to have chilli jam in. As soon as we notifed the waiter he came back 5 minutes later with a sandwich with no chilli which I do appreciate. Overall customer service isn't good at all, majority of the restaurant upstairs was waiting a long time for food & drink. The food was ok but don't think I'll be returning due to the lack of organisation and...
Read moreDuring our recent visit to Biddy's Tea Room in Norwich, we were charmed by its eclectic Victorian decor and the delightful array of cakes and beverages on offer. The Turkish delight cake, millionaire's shortbread, and chocolate brownie were all delectable, and our drinks; a chocolate milkshake, two americanos, a cappuccino, and a caramel cream coffee: were equally satisfying.
However, the service left much to be desired. Despite the tearoom not being particularly busy and having ample staff, our party of five was served at random intervals, and the staff's demeanor lacked warmth and attentiveness. It's possible that visiting on a Sunday influenced the service quality, but it was disappointing nonetheless.
I usually believe that if you can't say anything nice, you shouldn't say it at all, but this is an exception. Biddy's offers a unique and cozy atmosphere with its vintage charm, making it a lovely spot for indulging in delicious treats. We hope that with improvements in service, future patrons will have a more consistently...
