After deciding on bills for a friends birthday brunch we made our way to the norwich branch. We were early before opening time so waited outside. 5 adults 3 children. Very hard to miss. We were left outside till 9.10 (10 minutes after supposed opening time). We attempt to enter in which we are told there was a fault with the coffee machine and to carry on waiting outside. Eventually we are let in. The host says "right who's first" looking at a couple to the side of us, knowing full well we had been waiting patiently outside for longer. We get sat down at a table for 6 with 2 extra chairs, supposedly making a table of 8. With free tables all around us at no point being used our entire visit meaning we were squeezed in for no reason whatsoever. Our waiter eventually turns up to take our drinks orders, attempting to order the brunch cocktails, our waiter was unsure to if he could serve them due to their license (which is fine but surely he should know this, basic service really). Doesn't write any of our order down. Once he brings the drinks out not only has he forgotten one, but no sugars whatsoever for a full pot of tea (basic service really). Having to remind him of the missing drinks and sugar he eventually brings it over. When taking our food order, again no writing it down, as he obviously didn't learn from his mistake. He gets our food order in and we wait. In that time people are sat, order taken and food brought out before ours. When it eventually gets brought out, mine and everyone elses is luke warm at best and quite frankly I can't help but feel the "big breakfast" needs renaming as I had 1 sausage and 3 of the smallest streaky bacon rashers I've ever seen. I've seen more pork in a Greg's vegan sausage rolls. At this point we just wanted to eat and leave as soon as possible. During this time we have a half hearted checkback and no mention of offering of more drinks given our previous interest in them. After getting eventually cleared we ask the bill and mention the 20% coupon we have and enquired about the kids eat free board. Instantly the look on his face changes, for daring to enquire about the offers you've both sent us in email and on the mail board is far too much for him to fathom. With no real answer besides "you shohld have told me first, no I shouldn't do that, we'll, I can do it but I shouldn't, I'll go sort it now" baring in mind we hadn't said anything it seems like he was trying to charge as much as possible instead of doing his best for the customer or by explaining anything. Eventually getting the bills, we look at the bottom to see a service charge added when quite frankly he didn't deliver the absolute basics. After asking him to remove it as in all honesty we didn't feel the service we were given was equal to the service charge. After getting the bill he then avoided the table like the plague, giving attention and service we hadn't been privy to, to a table with a dog who he was petting, (not overly hygienic for someone handling food) after waiting for him to remember we existed i had to go to the front to pay. The host didn't seem surprised of his actions when I mentioned them and offered to take money off, I declined as I just wanted to leave. (That reaction alone tells me he's inadequate frequently) I leave while the second part of the bill is getting paid when he comes over and says to my wife "don't forget to pay your bigger bill too". Once I heard this I came back in to just say how insulting it was to insinuate we weren't paying and if he had paid us any kind of attention he would know what was happening. To which he says "I didn't insult you" no apology and no understanding of him not getting to decide if he insults guests. I now understand why the restaurant was no more than half full our entire visit and will not be wasting money on visiting again. If you are thinking of going for a brunch in the city centre, I would suggest number 33 (either branch), ber street kitchen or even the wetherspoons in all honesty as each offer a higher standard of...

Visited on a rainy day and had a coat, bag and an umbrella. We were seated in the window, on a small round table. The chairs are round as well so no-where to put your wet coat or bag. Had to put my wet coat under the table along with my bag and umbrella and the same for my friend I was with. The table was not big enough for the large menu they had (would be better if the menu was in a book form rather than an A3 paper form). The table was SO close to the other table next to it when I took my coat off I had to keep apologising to the couple sitting next to us. The tables were so close we may have well joined them for their meal. The couple next to us were complaining about the lack of service. Apparently they had been waiting for over 20minutes for their drinks to arrive.

The waiter asked if we wanted tap water for the table and we said no, so glasses were taken away. We ordered 2 pink lemonades, which did come from a glass bottle and were poured into separate glasses but the drink was flat.

When we got the food, again the table was super small, was barely any space, with 2 glass bottles, 2 glasses and 2 plates. The plates were very small and for the money you don't get a lot of food. We both ordered burgers and chips. The burgers were small (McDonalds sized) and there was a handful of chips. The chips were cooked well as was the burger. However, there was no side salad or coleslaw which you would normally get with a burger meal. Yes, the menu said that the burger was a handmade burger but it fell apart which made it extremely difficult to eat. The food went cold very quickly. We looked at desserts but they were very expensive and we looked at the ones the couple next to us had and they weren't worth the money.

I liked the decor in the restaurant however, on closer expectation there were spiderwebs on the wall next to me and dust on the photo frames.

There is a large door to get in and wheelchair access and a friendly man to greet you.

We felt we were pressured to leave. We had our bill brought to us which we didn't want to pay straight away and the same server kept coming up to us asking if we wanted to pay. The service was very poor and I didn't want to leave a tip, however they add the tip into their bill anyway! So this is probably why the service was not above and beyond. My friend felt uncomfortable and we left not very satisfied.

I will say the food was tasty and the table and glasses were clean.

Easy to find the restaurant and a nice location right in the...

I recently dined at Bill's Restaurant and had an absolutely delightful experience. From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted with warm and friendly service, which set the tone for the entire evening.

To start off my meal, I ordered the dumplings and halloumi sticks. The dumplings were cooked to perfection, with a delicious filling that was bursting with flavor. The halloumi sticks were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, creating a delightful combination of textures. Both appetizers were incredibly tasty and left me wanting more.

Moving on to the main course, I opted for the fish pie and the truffle chicken two ways. The fish pie was a true comfort food delight. It was packed with a generous amount of succulent fish and topped with a creamy, flavorful mash. Each bite was pure bliss, and it truly showcased the chef's expertise in creating a hearty and satisfying dish. The truffle chicken two ways was equally impressive. The chicken was perfectly cooked, tender, and infused with a delicate truffle flavor. The presentation of the dish was also exceptional, adding to the overall dining experience.

Throughout the evening, the staff at Bill's Restaurant provided excellent service. They were attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and always willing to cater to any dietary preferences or requirements. The ambiance of the restaurant was cozy and welcoming, creating a relaxed atmosphere that enhanced the enjoyment of the meal.

In conclusion, I highly recommend Bill's Restaurant based on my dining experience. The quality of the food, the attention to detail, and the exceptional service all contribute to making this a truly memorable culinary destination. We had a birthday booking of 16 accepted by the restaurant. Our group was split into 2 tables and we weren't told this beforehand unfortunately. When ordering drinks, most of us chose the draught Peroni, specifically saying pints. We were brought opened 660ml bottles, which cost more and we were not informed that there was no draught beer when we ordered these. The food was good, just wish there was a little more on the plates. We had some trouble at the end: as there was no way to pay when pre-ordering, everything had to be split between all 16 of us... In the end the manager had to come and help staff get to the bottom of an issue with the bill - we'd been charged bottle prices (£7.25) when the waitress who initially brought us the bottled beer had said we would be charged draught prices £6.50. Most of the waiting staff were very patient with us and served us well - I will say the waitress who served us as we arrived (and gave us the bottled beer) seemed quite miserable from the get go which is off-putting. In fairness a large group like that is hard to serve and deal with - better communication and general organisation would have solved the majority of the issues. I especially think when you accept large functions like ours, it'd save lots of pain for you and customers to allow us to individually pre pay for the food online, and even for drinks too perhaps. And tell them that the whole group will not be seated together... I'm giving 2 stars for the above mentioned points, and my dirty cutlery (pictured). I'm relieved I noticed it as whoever layed the table clearly didn't.

Stumbled across this place on a day trip to Norwich. Unfortunately there were no tables available at lunch time when we popped in, but the lovely waiter was able to reserve a table for an hour later on in the afternoon... . Wow... We were so pleased that we had waited and returned. Bill's is a beautiful, quaint place, which was absolutely buzzing with chattering people all enjoying the food, ambience and service. We were shown to a fantastic spot by the window which overlooked the bustling city. Quickly served with drinks by a smiling, friendly waitress, who then gave us enough time for us to peruse the menu and order. The food was simply 'out of this world' . A 'different' menu choice to our normal hunts, But my goodness, the food was delicious. Throughout the meal my daughter groaned with delight and my husband didn't speak, just ate! (a firm signal of tasty food lol). Can't fault this place at all. 5 stars all around and obviously everyone else in Norwich agrees... Very busy but this did not effect the service or standard of food. Well done to everyone at Bill's!! We shall definitely return!! Xx
